Where are the funds you want to give to other people coming from?

If you want to know what Capitalism actually is you should read Adam Smith's book about it.

It's a pretty easy read.

Capitalism would be much like communism only it's about sharing capital and investing in workers. In other words, the money is flowing around to everyone.

We do not have anywhere near capitalism in the US.

You can do "whatever you wanted" as long as you dont do it in an alligator skin jacket. Got it bro. I hope you realize how ridiculous that sounds to you when you run it back.

Never about performance? Come on, read that over and over again and see how ludicrous and emotional that sounds.

My experience in corp america has typically been that upper management passed down to me a number that needed to be cut and it was either completely my decision or it was co-guided.
In most cases it was pretty clear cut who the top performers were from the bottom.
In one case all my team were rock stars (designed that way.....already moved the under performers out) and I made the case to upper management and I was able to keep everyone.

I am not saying this is how it always is.....but that was my experience which is different from what your friends told you.

But if you haven taken the advice of your "past managers" about taking it easy for said reasons.....then yes that will show pretty easily and I can see how someone like that would be on the bottom of my list even if they were marginally out producing someone that was trying hard. I can coach and skill up someone. I dont have the time to fix lazy and negative in a fast moving world.
Also, if someone does not work well with others but they are in a position where it would be a much better workplace if they could, they often get axed even if performance is decent. You have to be a top performer if you are a total **** to be around, and even then it might not be enough.

There's tons of people happy just fishing, farming, working on cars and couldn't give two ****s about Bugatti, Helicopters, and yacht parties. Some kids are happy to just be around family, other kids want the latest Iphone and Lamborghini.

It sounds to me like you are a dictator telling people what they can't have cause you disagree with it.

edit to add: how does preventing someone from owning a yacht help anyone else?

Great! There are plenty of places in america and in the world where you can live that low key lifestyle. That doesnt exclude anyone from having to work hard and provide value to society. What they choose to spend their money on is none of my business nor do i care.

People have to be told what to do all the time because they're selfish and vain.

Except it is our business because we live on the same planet and share the same resources. Greed/Capitalism/Socialism has caused nothing but war, death, and the destruction of earth. Is that not a factual statement?

Destroy greed and we all live better lives.

It's not about preventing them. It's more so teaching people values and not be greedy. Poor kids vs Rich kids. The former more often than not isn't some greedy narcist. It's why some wealthy parents don't even give their kids money and make them work.

Mike....what Cleveland is asking you to do is spell out all the functional pieces to what you are proposing here.
I'd love to see it as well. Im all ears. What do you propose I do with my businesses? Cap my margin and do what with the extra money? Pay my employees more than market, invest it back into the products and services, or something else?

There's something called Conspicuous Consumption and a Commodity Fetish that cause craziness in the rich and demoralization in the poor.

Conspicuous Consumption is where people buy expensive things to be seen buying expensive things.

That puts rich people on an endless treadmill of buying the next big thing.

It demoralizes poor people, who do most of the work in society, because it makes their work seem pointless and so they will not do it well.

Commodity Fetish is where a certain brand seems like "the best" or the only thing to have, when it's really a pretty mundane item.

For instance, you can have very expensive Nike sneakers and covet them. However, you then find out they are "Chinese knockoffs" and because very disappointed. Meanwhile, they are the exact same design and materials as Nike, but you THINK they are fake.

They are exactly the same thing but you have a "fetish" (means unless obsession) with what you believe is a product of the Nike company.

So, stopping people from buying yachts and eliminating "luxury goods" when improve mental health and morale for everyone.

so make poor people happier by not letting rich people spend their money?

lol

also a yacht isn't a mundane item, so the commodity fetish doesn't come into play. In fact, I'd say the majority of high end goods don't because of their quality alone like large houses, super cars, expensive food, and even vacations in exotic places.

Secondly, limiting someone's freedom to raise morale sounds like a terrible idea.

Late stage capitalism is when lobby groups formed by a few well capitalised individuals influence decisions that is against the greater good of your country and people for their own profit maximising benefit. e.g.

- Lobbying lawmakers to eliminate laws that prevent foreign countries from buying strategic utility assets (i.e. your telecom, electricity grid, gas, internet stack etc). Think China acquiring internet infra, ports etc.
- Lobbying lawmakers to introduce regulations that ponzify real estate (i.e. relaxing foreign investment, planning regulations in cities that prevent high-density development, low land tax, allowing people to own multiple properties in capital cities, allowing people to buy properties through superannuation funds at a reduced tax rate, allowing rental expenses that exceed rental income to be claimed as a income deduction).
Isnt that exactly what's happening with this WEF and corporate woke chit? It doesnt happen overnight, but the next gen is absolutely screwed unless they're connected.
