LMAO So, when a man gets a woman pregnant, he’s up for 18 years child support

That’s always been the case

Doesn’t matter if she deliberately trapped him, it was an accident, or he “just wasn’t ready to have children”.

He gets no choice in the matter. Once he’s proven as the father, if the woman chooses to have the baby, he can be up for 18 years of child support payments.

The man gets no “choice”.

There is no “my wallet, my rights”

Basically indentured servitude for 18 years. She might get half of the value of his labour.

But suddenly when the turntables are turned and women in some states potentially find their choices being restricted

They expect men to be outraged on their behalf?

Spoiler!

Logic is lost on many of these people, its better not to try and reason w/ them and just fix the problem they've made and move on.

Hopefully, this will be the next fix.

Very valid point. People were just using abortions as a form of birth control. Hopefully this will make both male and females use actual birth control to avoid having a kid… probably not.

once the male bc pill is a thing, I think we'll have fewer babies born than before rvw was overturned

My wife and I discussed this topic today and I made this point.

Told her that men aren't necessarily being cruelly insensitive, rather this has been our reality all along so the feelings just aren't there. Got over them and accepted this fact a long time ago so I really don't have any for women in our boat now.

My overall sentiment is "welcome to the club."
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

Sure.

I’m not saying the rules regarding “forced paternity” are likely to change or even that they should

I’m just amazed at the sudden outrage, and the hypocrisy of women expecting men to be outraged on their behalf

“Rules for thee and not for me” and all that

No, I mean which state will be the first to legislate that men cannot be forced into 18 years a slave

Surely the 13th amendment would provide some basis

This doesn't happen, at least not with any frequency you can count on. For the most part, family courts function to unilaterally transfer money and assets, based on gender much moreso than actual financial situation.

It is state by state but most are moving away from that. PA has for awhile and it's pretty clear cut. If it's 50/50 custody, whichever parent makes more pays the other. And you can file adjustments and flip it around if the top earner changes.

Well I hope you're right, and I hope it continues. I find actual deadbeat dads pathetic losers, however there has been a very real bias against men in family court for far too long. There needs to be a balance between making men take responsibility and confiscating what amounts to "cash and prizes" to any manipulative woman.

Buddy of mine went through it. Solid guy with a great job, no criminal history, etc. His lawyer basically told him he would need video evidence of the mom doing hard drugs to have any chance of getting sole custody. Granted this was some years ago, and in California at that...

well it's almost equally hard for the woman to get sole custody in most states as well.

but getting 50/50 is the norm in a lot of states, never give the primary, fight for the 50/50 split

It's so close to impossible and you risk looking retaliatory to the custody master. Fighting for 50/50 makes you look like the reasonable one.

Unless you have a legitimate reason the mom shouldn't have custody

If an adult woman has sex with a minor boy, the boy's parents still have to pay child support. When he turns 18, he has to pay child support to his rapist. That is the law in most states.

Probably the same if a woman rapes a man in the dark while his girlfriend is making a sandwich in the other room. No one cares if the man consented.

How about this:

If both parents want custody, they both get 50% of the custody and neither pays child support. If only one parent wants custody, the other parent pays child support.

Don't like it? Don't knock up randoms then
