Spoilers regarding a certain character's fate in S4.

Spoiler!
Kripke and the writers decided that Black Noir would die in season 3. The finale episode saw the supe returning to Vought headquarters to face Homelander (Antony Starr) and prepare for the fight of his life against Soldier Boy. Tragically for him, Homelander kills Noir after learning his teammate kept a pretty big secret about Soldier Boy from him all these years.

The good news is that, Kripke says, "a character who is completely silent and in a black mask can be recast."

Come season 4, which will start filming this August, Mitchell will play "a different character who wears the Black Noir suit," Kripke reveals. "It's definitely not the last we've seen of Black Noir as a hero. It's just that the guy who was inside [the Noir suit] in season 3, he's gone. But we have Nathan playing a really interesting and hilarious character who wears the suit next season."

Kripke emphasizes, "We'll explore it as the season goes on, but Nathan plays a whole new character."

Will SB be back for 4? He was the best man.

They kept him “on ice” to return as it were.

Towards the end with the reveal of the new running mate that was supposed to be some kind of stinger twist was also weak. In line with what I'll say about Soldier Boy below, we had a fukkingNazisocial justice warrior last season and Homelander actually seems slightly (slightly) less unhinged with his son; head popper really doesn't seem like the worst person in the world.

What did Homelander even need The Deep for with that assassination? He just happened to know the running mate takes night swims (oddly specific) and that the best way to take him out is to have the guy who can talk to sea life hide underwater at night to stage a drowning?Thatwas the insidious plan of "tReAsOn?!" Maybe the writers need to spend less time trying to figure out how they can fit in Seth Rogan literally jerking himself off and more time on making the plot not suck.

That whole B plot with the daughter went from a nice touch to MM's backstory in the beginning of the show to the bowels of cringe by the third season. I think everyone involved in the production needs to get their test levels evaluated after taking a part in that.

Not to go too far on a tangent, but the first is also another example of the show digging its heels in telling us how we're supposed to feel without showing.Howis Soldier Boy a racist again? Because one old, creepy guy said so who you wouldn't trust that dude in a room full of girls at an 18th birthday? Or because accidental, unintended collateral damage is somehow racism as well now? The show even went out of its way to have Soldier Boy callBill CosbyAmerica's dad from how he remembered.

Like, we just had a season dealing with an SJW Nazi, they forced a race C Plot (that, again, they didn't show anything and just told us how everything went down), so put it back in the deck. The only thing that theydidestablish about Soldier Boy was that he's abusive, but that's hard to really give a sh*t about given the other kinds of characters in this show.

Overall, the writers really struggle to make characters morally ambiguousandconsistent episode to episode, which shouldn't be that bloody hard when they only have 8 episodes per season for god's sake.

You're right, though: only good thing that came of this finale was Soldier Boy was still alive because I was sick of at least half the characters before the episode was even over.

Same here, man.

This wasthe whole pointthe entire series of events during this short-ass season were building towards, but the kid interfering and getting a harmless (for a supe) push to get him out of the way derails 7 episodes worth of build up so Butcher can pretend to be a father... and still lose his son?

Thank you! As much as I enjoyed MM's character early on, he was flat out stupid this third season for no reason other than to be the single one holding off on taking some Temp V. It didn't even fit the character because Butcher was the one who was genocidal against Supes, but only went with it because of a, "by any means necessary" attitude. MMhadno reason other than the plot demanding he turn off his frontal lobe.

Starlight's entire role this season was to be the hypocritical nag telling everyone how they don't need Temp V, even though they're going against the most powerful supe who could bitch slap her head from her body. The ending is supposed to have her be "right," except that end scenario could only happen because of the events involving Temp V that led to it even occurring. You could even point out that had Hughie not bee on Temp V to teleport her out of the orgy, she would havealsobeen caught in the blast and lost her powers. Like this show can't even remember what happened a couple episodes prior.
And now they're like Butcher, you're going to die in a few months, but he could take the real Compound V and be healed, plus he already knows what his powers are. So there's really no skin in the game.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

It makes sense just as a coverup for why Black Noir would suddenly go missing, and at least it opens up some interesting possibilities. I don't know anything about the comics and whatkindof possibilities it opens up, though. For instance, if the kid was instead around the age of young Black Noir, that would have been a possible avenue to getsort ofclose to theSpoiler!

That's the other thing, too: We see them establish with the head popper how she's slowly introducing regular Compound V to her daughter via shots, but Temp V is (1) almost instantaneous for how little time they allow to inject it before a mission, and (2) is close to being as good as the real thing, even if temporary. So if that's the case, then how different would it be to just take the real stuff since apparently their bodies get used to it immediately?

We also saw how Kimiko regained her powers in seconds with a proper dose of V despite losing them from Soldier Boy's blast, so the same premise makes sense. Even if her bodywasused to her powers/Compound V, she was clearly wiped of it and vulnerable like a normal human to everyday weapons regardless of any prior powers. If a re-injection is all it took for her after that, then it makes their, "you're gonna die in X months," pretty limp.

Even without the deadly side effects twist, they had already taken a lot of skin out of confrontations if a shot of Temp V still turned Butcher into Homelander Lite.

The Temp V abstinence also takes a somewhat interesting angle of different people having different abilities and goes nowhere with it if we don't see how MM or Frenchie would turn out. Although after this season, I think Frenchie's power would just be whining at people to death.

The hilarious part is that the showrunners have completely emasculated MM

- leaves family over his personal issues
- spergs out and punches Todd when he reminds him of this
- giant kok in face
- get covered in cum
- is wholly irrational during the whole season
- can't control his emotions against Butcher, proceeds to break a baseball bat in half while wailing on him
- can't control his emotions against SB, only calms down when Annie tells her to
- his contribution to the final fight is pinging SB's shield with his gay little shotgun

It's like what Disney did with Finn. They made their usual moral grandstanding against racism then proceed to write the black dude as the comedic relief space janitor who pines over the white chick then gets merked anyway. Oh yeah and he isn't a Force sensitive either.

This has become one of those shows where you root for the bad guy now lol.

Butcher is basically a big cuck trying to protect Ryan who doesn't even give a fuk about him.

MM is like a bipolar crybaby

Huey is just sorta there.

Starlight absorbed all that light, rose off the ground and fired a massive shot at SB who was barely even effected lol.

I like Frenchie and the Asian girl.

Honestly just give me a spinoff with The Deep doing Deep **** lol

I enjoyed every episode until the last one, which left me kind of disappointed and a little irritated. SB was fantastic and did nothing wrong and I hope we see him in action again someday. Also, I didn't like how hard they were pushing the woke sh*t and every Homelander enthusiast being a knock-off Trumper/Q Anon degenerate. I'm left-leaning and even I could see how biased and obvious it was. Season 1 was the in balance best in this regard. Yes, we get it, everyone that isn't leftwing is all neo nazi's who will love Homelander,he could even stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and laser somebody, and he wouldn't lose any supportbecause he's just such a great guy.

This season felt rushed and seemed like nothing actually progressed the plot, just minor character development here and there.

Next season really needs to kill off major characters and actually have a cohesive plot that moves the story forward.

6/10 for Season 3.

The show is leftist (tiny hat) propaganda, and that's all it is.

The show has almost no story and it's all "comedy" scenes that are actually propaganda.

When they try to wrap up plot points, they don't even know how to do it because the writers CANNOT REMEMBER their own story. That's why so much doesn't make any sense.

They want to remove Homelander's powers with Soldier Boy, but when the chance comes, the woman knocks Soldier Boy out of a window.

Why.....they don't know.

Last season they showed us how Homelander could laser the Nazi woman and it just turned her on! They could have rough sex and Homelander couldn't hurt her. She heals instantly.

Then, at the end, a bunch of low powered female superbeings beat the hell out of her, she doesn't fly away, and Homelander's kid cuts her in half, when Homelander couldn't hurt her.

None of that makes any sense.

Meanwhile, lots of resources went into making a guy look like he crawled into a penis. Special effects were used to make giant amounts of ejaculate, and so on.

They ought to cancel it.

The main character comes from a planet of supermen.

The invasion is COUNTLESS SUPERMEN AS STRONG AND DEADLY AS HE IS so why would the main character need to eliminate Earth superheroes when thousands of massively powerful people like him are showing up to take over Earth?

A few other things now that I have more time:

- "Weneed to save thethousandsof innocent lives at Vought!"

Also: Kimiko goes HAM on a bunch of security guards who for all they know are preventing people from tampering with a deadly nerve gas.

The show wasted several episodes going over her guilt crisis, only to end with her smiling like Hannibal Lecter clawing rando security guards' faces off. It would actually make more sense to just skip everything from her being de-powered up to that point, with the added bonus of not having to deal with the her + Frenchie + Russian mob + blackmail again side plot.

- Thinking about it, I don't think I'd even want a new Noir. Part of the show-character's charm was some kind of underlying, almost childlike air about him despite his skills as an assassin. Only when we learn more about him on an episode before him being offed do the pieces come together, but the character behind the mask is finished. And since they're obviously not basing Black Noir off the comics, what's going to be interesting about a replacement for the exact same "character," minus thecharacter, instead of at least coming up with some wacky new super hero to take the spot?

- Even though Maeve technically should have died from the fall after face-tanking Soldier Boy's de-powering blast, it really sucks that she's out of the picture now and I'd trade her back in for Annie without hesitation. But at least she gets a happy ending. Additionally, her line to Hughie about carrying a neon sign saying to raw dog him, he's a bottom is looking more and more like it could describe the men in the writing room.

- Bonus MVP goes to Soldier, but especially for asking Butcher, "Wait Homelander fukked your wife?"

Obviously he didn't have the full context (it was not with consent), but it does highlight how stupid Butcher's betrayal waswiththe context of Ryan siding with Homelander, when Butcher was telling Ryan he couldn't even look at him in some contrived non-argument. It was bad enough that they had to keep bringing the kid back into focus, but they somehow managed to make it continually worse at the expense of all logic and the plot itself.

Man, you hit the nail on the head there, and it explains why a once good character became such a drag. Oh wait, season 4 spoilers for when they have MM cross-dress to sneak into Vought.

The thing is that #3 and #4actually happen, when at first take you could make the case that it works figuratively, as bad asthatis for any character. I must've blocked those moments out of my mind, but wow does it make the bigger picture all the more weak.

I forgot about Finn (and most of Star Wars), but it's a good comparison that really applies to most of whatever "points" the show keeps trying to make. They always wind up contradicting themselves, and frankly it would be preferable if they focused on just delivering a good plot with consistent characters who didn't have their brains remotely shut off by the plot instead of thinking they need to also tackle anything of substance. This is a show where the first episode of the season started off with a shrunken man blowing a guy's dick off from sneezing while on *******;at bestthey're just creating tonal whiplash, and at worst they're undermining any good aspects left of the show.

Another side observation with just how comically unaware this show is of itself, they go so far to make a point that the stepfather is a piece of sh*t (as if the soyjak look didn't give it away) when...

Spoiler!

10/10 move, Kripke.

Amazing writing with Hughie opening up to Annie and realizing his own kind of strength then the very next scene Maeve casually calls him a **** who prefers to be the bottom. Didn't undermine the whole thing at all.

Also realized how extremely convenient it was that Hughie suddenly refused to take Temp V in the season finale, seeing how he could have gone "grab Ryan" - "port him out" - "port back in" and boom, HL is easily defeated.

Rules established are you have no idea if you take it whether you will die or gain powers

Taking true V as a supe is like a steroid

Taking temp V too many times will kill you

Most definitely going to go ahead and full true V Butcher for perma supe business

Curious as to is just pure coincidence that Butcher got HL powers or if his obsession psychologically manifested supe wise when combined with V of any kind

Hughie is a dweeb and AT issues combined into avoiding danger and can get around quick

Plus seems every supe has auto default increased strength

The writers are clearly redditors because in a weird twist, it's a BBC being cucked by a soyjack.

It is the current year.

I'm not even clicking that Twitter link or I feel like I'd have to give my old oncologist a call and get another round of chemo. Twitter was a mistake, and people like Kripke latching themselves onto its tit to self-aggrandize and bask in the attention of some randos online has only been to the detriment of shows and movies. The more popular the show grew, the more they diverted all of their efforts towards placating the quintessential Twitter user, and it bloody shows.

*Also, kind of funny how the ass-eating degenerate is the one who writes a joke about raw dogging power bottoms in a bad light. If he wasn't so clearly shallow and daft he might have to reflect on himself a bit there.

Then when it's time to call upon his, uh, "strength," Hughie pushes some dimmer switches up, because Vought in all of its high tech glory also skimped out on basic-ass electrical inspections, resulting in the astounding culmination of Annie's true power: a Lite-Brite fart.

Also realized how extremely convenient it was that Hughie suddenly refused to take Temp V in the season finale, seeing how he could have gone "grab Ryan" - "port him out" - "port back in" and boom, HL is easily defeated.
Best of all, MM in all of his plot-induced delusion decides to pack ahandgunbecause he's at the point where he thinks he needs to put downButcherwhile also planning on going after Soldier Boy, the guy who he knows 100% is resistant to bullets. And when that idiot planobviouslydoesn't work, he was ready tofistfighthim, fully committed to dying like a moron, but no, Temp V is too far.

MM doesn't come across as having trauma, he comes across as having multiple personalities as dictated by whichever writer is trying to pull his strings in opposite directions.

And Hughie's own "high road" of not taking Temp V really was all kinds of stupid when they already setup his ability to just move people to safe distances. Take Ryan, or hell, just take Homelander, Butcher, and Soldier Boy somewhere that isn't the tower -anythingwould have been more useful than turning the lights up. Especially when you consider that because all of the collective bad decisions leading up to that point resulted in them losing Maeve's powers, who apparently is now on the level where she can 1v1 Homelander () long enough that they probably could have handled him together.

Honestly, Iknewthey were going to re-bitch Hughie after reading about the "toxic masculinity" bollocks, but it is definitely another one for the list of reasons I'm now pretty meh on any future season. What they considered "toxic" was just a character whowasweak in every respect finally growing to not be a subservient doormat for every single person. But as Maeve told the audience, that's not his place in the show, so shut up and Yas Kween the flashlight girl.

I think most of these "creatives" in Hollywood need to be strapped down and given the Ludovico Technique with runs of movies like Alien(s), Terminator 1 &2, Kill Bill, ect. because their idea of "strong women" is more far more hit than miss at an accelerating rate.

What I read is they chose the powers based on their personalities, so it's basically plot coincidence, except it's actually an interesting take. Pity they didn't explore it any further with the rest of the group, and after their moral grandstanding about Temp V this season, I don't think they're going to play around with it outside of Butcher being forced to take Full V to not die.
I will stand firm, I refuse to kneel - The fury in me is divine
My dark grave awaits, my fate is revealed - But I'm not afraid to die

But the dynamic between Homelander and Butcher is interesting. Ehh whatever. It’ll take a year or two to get another season. Doesn’t matter
No but seriously this needs to be discussed. If SB blew up in the air Maeve would have lost her powers, like, 50 stories up and fell to the ground as a normal human, and no, falling onto bags of garbage in an alleyway is not enough to break a fall.

There's quite literally nothing they can do with any of the characters:

- After 2 seasons of trying to be the good dude, Hughie went skawched erf Butcher-style at the beginning, but now he's back to his old self. What's next?
- Honestly tired of Butcher at this point, especially his stupid "swagger from left to right and twist his head before dropping a one liner about oi or ****, look at me, I'm acting" shtick. He went full in, then backtracked. Can't wait to see that once again. Probably will have one of those special brain tumors that don't debilitate the person at all while also killing them in a year tops.
- Kimiko came to terms over her powers and being a psycho, Monkerr took an arbitrary time in his life to finally stand up for himself (again) and demand dental plans and a pension, stay tuned for more surprise Nina in the future.
- MM is pretty much done, but maybe he'll punch Todd again.
- Annie is apparently out of Vought, but not really since she still has a massive following so she can just pop back in. Maybe we'll get some interesting relationship drama with Hughie.

Kripke literally said that she survived because they wanted to give her a happy ending and they didn't want to go with the "bi/gay character gets killed off" trope. Personally I was unaware there was a trope like that. Well besides killing off the gay dude in the first ep.

Wish I was making that up

"At no point did I ever consider killing Maeve, from the very, very beginning [of the series]. We were intentionally building to a happy ending for her, always, for a lot of reasons. One, she deserved it. Believe it or not, The Boys is a moral universe, and when you make the right choices, you get rewarded, and she deserved a happy ending with Elena.

I am not going to fall into the trope of killing off gay characters. I’m aware of it, [and] I agree with the criticism of it. I’m not going to do that as well. And I’ll admit that I think we’re playing around a little with that trope by letting people think she’s dead, and they’re going to shout at their TV and be really upset by it, but then [we] reveal she’s actually going to go have a nice, power-free life with her girlfriend. So hopefully that will take the sting off it.”

I said The Boys sucked and was just a series of comedy skits that makes no sense, now what is everyone saying about the show?

The Boys sucks.

Invincible sucks and makes no sense either.

These writers are terrible and can't even make a story that follows any logic.

She lived because she's a lesbian.

That's the only reason.

Everything I've read from this guy's mouth is so lame. Guy is a massive ****git. No wonder the show is lagging more and more behind the comic every season.

"Believe it or not, The Boys is a moral universe"

Ya, maybe your watered-down version that's more concerned about taking jabs at Trump than effectively building plot.

The only big twist in the finale was Noir, and they've already confirmed thesame actorwill be playing a "Noir 2.0" in Season 4. They didn't kill him, they just retconned him. What a joke.
