Do you not have a home depot in the Netherlands? A window unit is maybe like 250 dollars.

nope - free in the UK

of course nothing is for free due to 'taxes' but in the UK a tramp living on the streets who gets cancer will receive hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of cancer treatment - even if he is terminal.

An illegal immigrant in the United States. Undocumented. That means no bank account, no credit card, no taxes, invisible to the system. Will live a higher quality of life than the vast majority of the entire planet, let alone Europe.

That may sound like a troll post but it is 100% accurate. Ded fkn srs.

You kidding me? A 3 star hotel in the US is superior to a 5 star in Europe. You should see how small and narrow their beds and rooms are. A Motel 6 off any U.S. interstate is nicer than most European hotels.

Europe is and has been starving. Dystopia.

It doesn't sound like a troll post, it sounds like a retarded post (which it is).

If you think an illegal immigrant in the US with no bank account has a higher standard of living than people from other non-third world countries then you are unbelievably naive and denser than a collapsed star.

I assume you're talking about 1 or 2 conditioning units and he's talking about installing air conditioning for an entire office building.

Air conditioning in Northern Europe is not something many people have in their homes.

Heating is the big deal up here with the need for air-con being minimal and even novelty during summer months. That said I can't even stand this UK heat and would kill for air-con right now (WFH).

For us to use 'non central' air conditioning our only option is to use a mobile air-con unit like this:

We don't tend to have wall unit type air-con over here but I've just seen one for £700. How hard are they to install?

If you think Europe, Canada, Australia is so damn great, then MOVE THERE. While you are at it, tell these damn immigrants from all over the world to go where you are going instead of here.

For the Europeans. How many Americans have to die because you dumb fuks can't defend yourselves and keep getting into wars. Why can't you handle Russia? Why can't you handle anything?

I'm sorry but pure wages do not equal wealth.

Huge cope.

America is without a doubt the best country if your parents are at least middle class and you stay healthy forever. You get to keep a lot of the wealth you generate, relatively far more. But only a few bumps on the road and you're even and often below wealth levels of eurobrahs.

You get a high level of education for a fraction of the cost too. Top universities cost like 3-5k per year. You don't start off working life with a huge debt. That alone is huge. Minimum wage is relatively far higher whilst also benefitting from social infrastructure. Socialist spending is too much in certain areas in Europe, but not enough to offset the way Ameribrahs are being robbed blind in other ways.

Falling down and breaking your arm is not a huge bump in the road for Europeans. And health insurance in Europe is the bomb, it's insane how good it is. This isn't an expensive insurance with like 89639739 exceptions. They have paid vacation too. Many workers organisations in Europe have stipulated things like legally paid time off (minimum like 20 days per year), vacation bonus wage, end of year bonus, net compensations, net bonusses, ... They give away cars for free at any decent level job. Your cost of living is basically your mortgage and food. Not only that, often your wages are legally adapted to inflation per year and sometimes even per month.

What IS skewed is that America is far less densely populated overall, I'm guessing. So there's more rural poorbrahs taking down the numbers a little. But yeah still, poverty is starting to become a huge problem in America. Not accepting that the US is falling behind is a problem that needs to be taken into account to improve towards the future. (very srs)

Also people vastly underestimate how European middle class are living. You can choose to live outside the bigger cities and live in a HUGE house for 300-500k in the richer European countries. If you want to live in or right near the city, of course you're looking at 650-900k easily for a 5 bedroom.

Maybe another things that skews things is the massive amount of debt Ameribrahs take on. It might not necessarily bankrupt you, but total outstanding debt IS a factor.

tl;dr : it's not that weird, America loses against some of the richest countries in the world. Luxemburg is full of very highly paid people who go there for exactly that reason : great tax breaks for them. So of course they have a great average. Australia is also thriving, good wealth and great social support systems. Belgium is also a country that is focused on high yield economic activity and they have pretty great social backing too, even though they have certainly overspent themselves and they'll need to cut back for sure in the coming decade.

I am an immigrant from a third world country whose parents were not middle class, were not educated, and don't even speak English. Yet in the US they were able to work for less than 20 years and retire in their early 50s. That couldn't have been done in any European country. There's a reason everyone wants to move to the US. An in case you didn't know, we have socialized healthcare just like in all those European countries. The only difference is here you need to apply for it, it's not automatic.

I broke my hand last year, I paid about $300 in total for all treatments, including physical therapy. I have private insurance though.

My first home I bought in a nice suburb 30 min from DC, for $230k.

People have misconceptions about the US, and they don't bother to check for what the truth is.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Um, no. $250K a year is not "middle class". By definition the middle is based on the median household income with a spread either direction.

Closer.
The Pew Research Center defines the middle class as households that earn between two-thirds and double the median U.S. household income.
Here are there numbers from 2020. The bottom number is the minimum to qualify as middle class.

$202K a year was upper income for a family of 5 people.

The only difference between the US and EU, is that no one holds your hand in the US.
No, it's bigger than that. And lol if you think that having access to employer sponsored health insurance is equivalent to having a universal public health program.

sheltered homeless vs. unsheltered homeless

Srs. I believe the US number skews low FWIW. Who knows how many are living in cars and vans, RVs, couch surfing, etc. The Biden regret video I referenced in another post has a younger woman saying she is staying with her boyfriend and his parents while her child is staying with her parents.

No doubt in my mind that the US has some serious issues and nobody is doing anything. For instance, the republicans think everything is fine, while the democrats see the problems but think that communisim or socialism is the answer.
Agree. And I'm one of those odd ducks that believes a hybrid approach is best- sharing the cost of "utilities" and leaving production to private capital while restraining monopolies/cartels, corruption, and acts damaging to the general public well being.

Good post. There is opportunity in the US. There are also a lot of predatory practices. It's a good place to be a fit healthy wolf. Not such a good place to be one of the flock who is young and vulnerable, ill/injured, unfortunate, old, etc.

Where's the irony?
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Belgium is number 4 when it comes to most wealthy adults in the world yet they have the highest taxes in the world.

Explain.
If you pay high taxes but get a lot of social services, then you have more money in your pocket.

Imagine if you have socialized college in your country. You are going to go to school and then all take home pay is yours.

Americans get "nickeled and dimed" to death vs paying taxes for social services.

Americans do not have a healthcare system that is even remotely the same quality as decent European countries.

It's also complete bullshet that you couldn't undertake business ventures in Europe. In fact, you can dodge an immense amount of taxes by having your own business. You get a lot of tax breaks. Even more so : Immigrants in Europe also start businesses bevause it's the fastest way to financial security if everything goes well. There is nothing different between the US and Europe in that regard. Are you under the assumption that capitalism doesn't exist there? The presence of socialist structures is very far reemoved from actually being a socialist or communist nation.

Not 'everyone' wants to move to the US. Mexicans do, because it's a one border jump. Illegal immigrants normally don't travel by conventional means. You think some poor retard from Morocco is pedalling to the US? No, he's going to France/Belgium/Netherlands/Germany because they have (too good) of a support system for him if he can get his life in track even a little over there.

America is pretty good still, but yeah it's not the greatest anymore. Failing to see that is part of the problem. There is a reason why America's greatest cities are starting to get overrun with homeless, why poverty is pretty rampant compared to the aforementioned nations.

Take a look at this :

https://confrontingpoverty.org/pover...han-elsewhere/

That's not bad for the US, but it's far from good. You can't accept these numbers and you can't just pray that people will magically free themselves from poverty.

In every way possible, it's quite obvious that people from those Euro countries are in fact more wealthy than Americans on average. It's just facts.

Also note that people in Europe do that on36-40 hour work weeks.

That's pretty much it. Both systems have their benefits for sure. But you need some more luck in America. If you do well in aAMerica and you stay healthy, you can truly still achieve the American dream. But that kind of succes is very much the exception to the rule. You can lose a lot awfully quick.

It is really is as simple as this.

Government is supposed to subsidize basic utilities (making them cheaper), tax away rent (cover those subsides), and abolish taxes on labor and production.
