I'm sure things will change when I have kids but you've only got one body and its a shame to let it rot going to dinners and winerys

When I go places most people do not mention hobbies let alone look like they have any. Sure there are some car and biker dudes I see them but it's a small percentage. Again I haven't met anyone that mentioned hobbies since age 27.

Cope. While work/life gets in the way much more now, I also have more money than when I was younger allowing me to enjoy certain hobbies I normally wouldn't have been able to. Hell I'm thinking of starting BJJ because the gym is great and all, but I'm wanting more of a personal development "hobby".

I'm pretty busy and my time investment in my hobbies goes up and down quite a bit, but I do still find time to do things I enjoy.

Some things I enjoyed have just dropped off do to time or other complications. I had a lot of fun on my dirt bike growing up but haven't had one for years.. I still garden, backpack, hunt, fish, and play basketball. I have smoker I play with every few weeks. My kids accompany my more often than not. I actually just took four of them out backpacking last weekend for a quickie overnight trip.

There are things I'd like to do more more of (traveling with my wife, for example) that I just don't get to because they seem too complicated with where I'm at in life right now. Some things I want to try but just haven't prioritized the time. I've been meaning to learn the harmonica for years - I can play a few simple songs write now - I just haven't put in the time yet.

I have more hobbies and more money to do said hobbies now than ever. Dafuq you talking about?

Nobody has hobbies after kids. That's when your hobbies die. Until that point, age is just a meaningless number for the most part.

What exactly does someone who has hobbies 'look like'?

Also, not trying to be mean, but by your own admission you barely talk to anyone and can't hold conversations for very long, so why would you hear much about peoples hobbies? :S

as you just said, you keep it short and sweet, and it's weird because every time you say 'people only wanna talk about x' it changes every time, so clearly there's actually some variation in what they talk about despite your protests there isn't. The reason you have to keep saying it, is because you're not consistent in what you say.

the point being, you don't seem to converse with anyone deep enough to talk about hobbies so why would you expect them to come up?... but not only that, i think what you're actually looking for is people withyour hobbies. I think if people talked about their hobbies you wouldn't be interested at all, because every thread you make basically makes it sound like you find everyone who doesn't have your exact same interests boring. In fact if people talked to you about their hobbies, you'd most likely be making daily threads on misc like 'people only want to talk about x' (tbh you probably have, i'm sure some variations of your 'people only talk about x' include a bunch of hobbies but i can't be bothered to dig through your posts lol)

unsure why i'm replying tbh, let's face it you don't actually want a discussion, you want a thread of people agreeing with you.

dude you need help from a psychiatrist, not the misc

i was gonna type a proper reply but then i realized you don't process anything anyone says and just talk at people instead of conversing with them, basically you use conversation as an excuse to say what YOU have to say and couldn't give a fuk what others have to say. Maybe this is the root of your problem lol...

Maybe I'm wrong and around the wrong people, but most are boring, especially women.
I'd rather listen to people at work talk about nothing or keep it basic exchanges of pleasantries/small talk than listen to them rail on about their latest hunting/fishing/camping etc. trip and the 10k trips they plan to do the same chit again in the future.

The worst is when you get stuck in a group of coworkers who hang out outside of work and do activities like hunting/fishing together. I am forced to be around of coworkers who decided to be a group of personal buddies outside of work. Listening to them talk about chit like that and their plans with it together is like watching a circle jerk when all you want to do is focus on your job for the next 8+ hours and not be bothered with any of that crap.

hobbies don't have to be very complicated. it can be as simple and doing crosswords, sudoku, solitaire, reading short stories or poetry. none of that is tiring and all of it is for people of all ages. actually, thinking about it, young adults these days are doing less hobbies than before. typically i think young people spend lots of time on their phones to socialize (these are a generalizations) but older people who don't have as much youthful passion tend to find purpose in other ways that are more productive. one of my favorite hobbies is writing -- writing in a journal, making a short story -- but i don't do it as often as i ought to if i want to see more success

Having kids does put a crimp on the hobbies. I thought my 30's were the worst for me.

After they are grown though its nothing but hobbies pretty much.

Yes I agree I think physical hobbies have declined significantly due to technology

Remember the 90s and 2000s when everyone lifted, skated, went to the parks, built cars, showed off their car stereo systems, went out hunting and fishing etc

Yeah you don't see that stuff much anymore

People on this forum disagree but we're here because we think differently from the masses aka people with no hobbies. Most on here at the very minimum lift, game or have some sort of hands on hobby. I see plenty of avis holding a fish or something outdoorsy related.
You're noting the simping to superiors too? I swear this is so annoying lol. Over the years I swear I've never seen so many dudes simping at work, it used to be the complete opposite actually. Why are so many dudes simps now?

I belong to an adventure club where we do outside adventures and indoor hobbies such as glass blowing and jewelry making. I used to make pottery with my daughter. I enjoy painting as well.
