Ok but for SDE roles at actual tech companies if you come in as a principal and you're a dumbass, you're gettin a pip real fast


That being said you can get away with a lot for engineering roles at non tech corporations. They really just setting up e commerce sites and stuff.

Well i just gave the SDE example to illustrate my proposal as their progression ladder is very simple to see

but it applies to most role, specially business types. in which a senior employee is usually ready to perform at the next level but usually isnt given the oportunity unless he has the blessing of another company

Someone said he was a regional manager, if u are managing a sizable salesforce and store number u most likely are already qualified to perform as a national manager, yet most companies wont give u the opportunity unless u are "proven" at the bigger role, just lie at that point

resumes are a formality.

network is king.

i make 6 figures and didnt even have to interview. the supervisor wrote it up that i was interviewed but he lied. someone i knew worked there and they went through all the applications and told them to pick me due to my reputation and abilities.

How do you network? Where i work all the managers are woke or just kiss each others asses to move up. Also most managers are 50+ it's rare to see any that are in their 30's

This is not about incompetent people frauding their way and then failing at the job, it is about high potential, competent people leveling themselves up

The second group will do well in the interview, know what they are talking about and perform well. Its faking it till they make it level and salary wise

Even yahoo's ceo faked his degree back in 2012, he got fired after they found out, however, he was convincent enough for all of his career to level up to that level. This is a prime example of a guy who faked it and made it

Wonder what he's up to today. There is some comedian actor that fills up the page when trying to search him.

Anyways, had a GM at a place I worked for do this. Said he was the GM of another facility that had been closed down (long after he said he left there). Also had some other BS on his rusume where he found someone with the same name as him that owned a business and had sold it. Long story short, he was our GM for 7mo. Banged half the female sales staff. Pulled some scams while he was there. They fired him but during that time, they reported high earnings, which he used to get a high up corporate job. Nobody cares about morality in business. All they care about is who brings the money. He could prove he brought the money.

Pro-tip. The whole system is a fraud full of corruption and scams. The real players learn how to use the rules to their advantage without actually following them.

I would have thought HR can ask about the employment dates for different positions you've had in the same company as well as your dates of continual employment.

If you lie on your application you could be in for a bad surprise. Seems like a really bad idea.

How are they going to prove anything? Call the previous employer? it sounds like such an over reach

What u need to make sure is that you were employed on the dates you provide and put in the real employer. Background checks will come out clean as company and employment dates will match

Take a look at Apple, after someone leaves, they change his job title to "associate", so u may very well have been a Director but they will screw up your background check by downgrading you

The fastest and easiest paths are not always the wisest. I take pride in knowing I've done what I've done, I'd probably have an identity crisis or imposter syndrome if I made chit up and try to lie my way into a high level job. My lack of performance, or inability to communicate as expected wouldn't go unnoticed lol.

This thread makes me think of Catch Me If You Can.



It feels great to grow and get better. Integrity and honor matter most as technology develops, srs. It's something that the generation/society is leaving behind. Living a life as a fraud is a weak feeling, and if you get caught I believe it's suable after you've accepted payroll, srs.
