I cut the cross pieces today, they fit ok. I used a tenon saw and the vice
I cut the wheels with a hole saw on the drill press.
They come out rough around the edges, so a bit of sanding -
They look to scale
Soon, I'll set up the scroll saw and cut some of the details before gluing it all together. But first I'll finish drilling/cutting the rest of the pieces. More to come

I cut the uprights and mitred the supports. Next, I will shape them on the scroll saw and make them look a bit more detailed/authentic. Plus work on the bucket.

The amp kit shipped with a faulty power tube, I tried to order a new matching pair but the order couldn't be forfilled for some reason, then I put it in the corner and forgot about it. I've been using my 4 watt model instead.

I do table top miniatures for skirmish games.
couldn't get chit a few months back due to shortages.
chlorine generator for my saltwater pool died in may and i couldn't get a replacement until mid july i think.

I'm not sure where the model is from - I just pulled it out of the box
I don't really play these games, but I made up a 'board' to play with my boys, usually with lego men. Roll the dice - each square is 1 - that sort of thing. They like it because it is simple and they can build a new map everytime, changing the water, making lakes, sand dunes, mountains, grass etc. And when we're done it slides back under the couch for easy clean up
Each square is 40x40

Aight, I came for the catapult but now you've brought out the game board. What are the rules (are there any)? I dig it man my kids would dig it....and my wife would appreciate them playing with something other than the skads of knex over every square inch of the apartment lol.
Virtue is its own reward.

My oldest likes thinking up characters with hit points/ extra movement stats/ special attacks. We play more complex movement rules like -1 for climbing a mountain +2 moving downhill etc.
We make it up as we go, but try not to change the rules in the middle of the game - I always lose when that happens, funny that.
The board itself was super easy to make. I just cut some D4S down to different lengths and painted them, the base is plywood.

Alright, I looked everywhere and was still getting error 404 file not found, so I bought a new one.
I cleaned up the cuts from the scroll saw
Still using the file, I clamped the uprights onto my bench and rounded out the middle.
Something like this (pictured right).

After shaping the uprights I noticed the support pieces didn't sit flush anymore (rookie mistake). I had to recut them longer with different angles
The bottom miter is now 59° which makes the top 31°. My framing saw only cuts as low as 45° so I shaped the others with the sanding disc
Looks better and will glue more securely.
This is the swinging arm, I want to shape it next. I marked it out roughly, not sure what tool I will use. Probably the sanding disc then file, then finish with sand paper.

I trimmed the edges off the swinging arm with the scroll saw. My next tool purchase will definatly be a band saw.
I drilled a shallow hole with a 13mm bit and then gave it a bit of character with the disc sander.
What it looks like in place.

To hold the axles in place I'm making up some brackets. I got these clamps out of the scrap bin, they are stainless steel. Miggs can probably guess what electronic device they came out of.
I will hammer them flat then shape them around some steel rod. I use this block of steel as an anvil.
Once I clean up the edges i will nail them onto the bottom of the catapult. I will try and find tacks, maybe carpet pins - they have a bigger head and will look more realistic than nails.
