Yeah, I'd rather be older too. Much wiser on their education and where they get it. More income, more maturity, more experience. Likely have a bigger house to live in with more space for the kiddos. Unless you got that silver spoon, it makes no sense to have kids in your 20s.

Nah. Your 20s should be the time to work and build a career. 30s is the best time to start dating and then have kids.

Exactly this. I’m late 20s and NONE of my classmates who started a family young are together now. They were struggling even the ones who had a good career.

They legit wasted their young adult lives with a baby being a priority. With some significant other they more than likely out grew. Have regret for settling for they’re highschool sweetheart when everyone else is enjoying their lives they have to lug a baby around or pay child support.


The ones who waited until mid 20’s are doing well. Having kids at 27-28

Behavioral psychologists are studying the effects of older couples having children. They’re finding it very interesting, but disturbing. Apparently as we age, we take less risk and tend to be less adventurous. We also become “soft” on the kids. This leads to a “sheltered” affect and character weakness, lacking the drive and motivation to take on big things, take risks (as seen with starting businesses, which could be why these numbers are falling). This could also be a consequence of women becoming educated and starting careers too.

I got married at 32 (she was 27 at the time), knocked her up a year later, and now am 35 with a 1 year old. The only real cons to waiting are that all of his grandparents are either passed away or too old to really be of any help, and most of our peer group's kids are older so when he gets to be 3-4+ years old we will have to start new relationships with younger couples that have kids the same age as him.

Other than that everything else is an upside. More money, more free time, more stability, more life experience/wisdom to pass on, etc.

I elected to live it up in my 20's rather than settle down, have kids and get a divorce. I'll be in the exact timeline as OP and no ragrets. Rather live it up young then try to when Im old.

To be very honest. 30's is a good time for having a family. It's either make it or break it time. In a perfect world, 20's being and idiot and finding yourself, 30's building a foundation for a career and family, 40+ have a family. If as a male you really focus and take care of yourself then your mid thirties should be like you're literally back in College. Seen plenty of older guys on here saying their at the peak of their game and they're late 30's early 40's. People need to stop following these strict lines and expectations of life. Just don't be a total loser fckup but other than that, do you. Recently some well known celeb men have been getting married and they're in their 50's/60's and it's their first marriage.

We are all out of school

I think it is better that way.... My father was not young when I was growing up
If he was 15 years younger you get a weird dynamic
Almost like a buddy thing. I had friends with younger parents and it seemed cool but not a positive for success
That can be good but I think when your parent is older/more established you respect them more as a kid
If you have a mother that is out clubbing at 25 when you are 5 how do you respect that even if you do not understand it

If you have a older father and younger mother you hope that mother is either more mature or kept in check but the father

I didn't have a kid until my 40s and it's great. I have the time, money and experience to actuallyraise them, as opposed to them having to compete with everything else in life for my attention and getting raised by childcare, the state and social media.

There are pros and cons to 20's, 30's and 40's, but your job isn't toproducea child, it's to be aparent. The stage in life where you are best equipped (financially, intellectually and emotionally) to be a parent varies from person to person.
Screw nature; my body will do what I DAMN WELL tell it to do!

The only dangerous thing about an exercise is the person doing it.

They had the technology to rebuild me. They made me better, stronger, faster......

Most of the guys I grew up with have let themselves goto complete chit. None of them lift at all. They’re in their late 20s and look like they’re pushing 40. I look like a celebrity standing next to them.

It’s all about having values in common. The trouble I see the most with age differences are the values. Having things in common helps, but values can make or break a marriage. If I was with a girl 20 years younger, she would have to be Christian. Christianity teaches both a man and a woman to submit to their partner and be servants to each other. Without that kind of heart, I think a woman has very little to offer in a marriage. In a manner of speaking, that’s what a marriage is all about anyway. So that we are not alone, and we have a partner in life to get through the suffering.

brb makes you grow up and accelerates maturity and life learning processes
brb gives motivation and drive to be successful professionally due to having to support a family
brb more energy to cope with stresses of raising children
brb still have a life to live after they have grown up
brb get to see grandchildren and even great grandchildren grow up

That's what I did. Fact is, I was too much of a train wreck to parent earlier. In the end, it was the best thing for them.

That said, if you go this way, keep lifting. You want to be able to do all the things that you want to do as a parent, regardless of age. I'm 56 and went kayaking with my 21 year old son after work yesterday. Was awesome.

Good points. Some guys my age think I'm being overly edgy when I say that, but I'm a returning college student and everyone I'm talking to is 18-25 years old. Absolutely, the majority of 18-20 year olds I've met are way too immature to get involved with (even for a smash, tbh) but I've met a few where that's not the case at all, and we actually vibe well.

I guess that's the benefit of getting older, you have a better handle on what you value in a partner.
