That attack was massive in the south. It may have drawn manpower same in DPR as claimed by Russia

Let me see. I'll be back in a bit to see how large it is.

I mentioned earlier we had seen massive amounts of reserves moving as well as the 3rd bn moved into Ukraine. I just assumed an offensive attempt in the coming weeks.

I think Russia is lying about why there is a void. Saying that they are moved to DPR

200k men cant defend a front of this size. They have DPR militias defending the front with token forces that have to stall out an attack until reserves can mobilize. Thats why russia is fighting a war of attrition. Putin would rather eat the embarassment of a retreat than have his men die trying to hold ground that cant hold out for the 2-3 days it would take for reserves to get there

Basically the opposite of zelensky. He clearly gives 0 fuks how many men die for a PR win.

Thats not to say this isnt a real win for ukraine

What's the point of trying to keep up the invasion?

Almost 7 months in with nothing to show for it and the Ukies made more progress in 5 days than the Russkies in 5 months, separatists have self reported 50%+ losses, Russians have lost most of their best troops and equipment which they cannot replace, we're close to another mud season and US lend-lease will only start in October.

They have also managed to cut themselves off from Western tech which is deleting their economy and made most of the EU countries look for alternatives for Russian petro exports.

What is there to gain? Something about Crimea?

The point is what it's always been... to keep more land. Russia had a bad week but I doubt they are ready to give up all the land Zelensky wants (everything)

LPR and DPR are now completely depleted miserable chitholes just like pretty much everything they've taken besides Crimea, Kherson and Melitopol. Most of the towns/cities they've "liberated" are now just piles of worthless rubble pumped with UXO with their economies and civilian structures bombed to chit.

And what did it cost them?

Infrastructure can be rebuilt. Just look at what they did in Grozny. Place was leveled. 20 years later it's a great asset.

Do you really believe we have seen the best Russia can offer? I readily admit they've been embarrassed these last few days but to say their capabilities are diminished and cant be ramped up, just doesnt hold water.
What you're suggesting would be the equivalent of the US invading Iraq/Afghanistan/whatever with members of the National Guard riding Shermans and keeping the modern/cool chit back home because...reasons. And just continuously feeding troops and equipment into the meat grinder. What's the point? Why not pull out the top shelf chit on day one to overwhelm and break any sign of opposition, especially when the opponent is - supposedly - nowhere close to being near-peer?

Bad example, Russkies were sent home after the first Chechen war, still took horrible losses in the second one and have been pouring in ridiculous amounts of funds each year ever since then to keep them from rebelling.

Meanwhile they've somehow missed rebuilding Kaliningrad.

Yes. We have.

They're not hiding any secret, unused, game changing personnel/units/capabilities anywhere unless you've got some new info.

They're pulling shells from 6400 miles away North Korea by train, emptying prisons for new fighters, shipping rusted T-62's to replace their blown up tanks, greatly slowed cruise missile use for lack of supply, and are filling new units with old/fat/unfit personnel.
