This is true. The ones getting screwed over the worse are guys like me. Almost down 1/5th of my portfolio since Jan, and obviously this is just the beginning.
You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to see this coming though , as you can’t just keep on printing and handing out money without it ending in an economic collapse at some point

It's almost as if changing the definition of a recession doesn't change the fact that we're in a recession.

Next up is Stagflation.

Welcome to Biden's America.

I don't give a fuk about $1k in interest tho.

Yeah it would suck if you’re retiring soon, but if you have enough in your portfolio you should be able to ride it out. Have you diversified outside or just stocks/bonds for retirement income?

I’ve been spending a lot of time working on a retirement strategy, so definitely want to learn from those who are there or will be there soon.

Statistically the demographic of people who perform best in the market are those who died and never had their accounts closed.

Isnt that the craziest part. If we see a massive drop of another 500 points in the SandP 500 we would still be even with 2019 numbers, which was a pump year with interest rates being so low that year. Imagine if we actually flat line to sub 3000 and hold it for a year, deer god the blood bath that would create.

That was my prediction 2 years ago. But ya never know how much money they're gonna print. I think we'll see chop till republicans take the house and senate, possibly chop till 2024.

Maybe we should drop below 2019 levels, maybe financial rules developed over the last 20-30 years do not apply anymore and the book needs to be rewritten.

Past performance is not indicative of future results, there's a lot happening in the world right now and society headed towards deglobalization could mean that the entire growth equation needs to be rethought. Or maybe it'll all be fine.

So I'm just going to say this, as a hardcore right winger who voted for Trump twice and thinks Biden is a dementia-stricken ped0phile.

1.This is not Biden's economy. This is the "2 years of lockdowns and $5T of Rona money printing" economy exploding in our face, which was approved in spring 2020 with bipartisan support. It would have been EXACTLY the same situation with Trump. Both parties chose to inject epic amounts of money into the economy. The natural results were going to follow no matter who was in office.

2. The stock market falling off a cliff is intentional and it is very healthy. By 2021, stocks were the second most overvalued they had been in American history. #1 was 1999, #2 was 2021, #3 was 1929, and no other time is even close. The American economy has been chitty for 20 years, and stocks had been taken to la la land through no kind of healthy growth but through rampant money printing. Aka stealing money from your children to put in your portfolio. And we had done so much of that we had built the second biggest stock bubble ever.

Do you really WANT a market that unhealthy to keep going up? "Oh yeah baby, build that bubble higher. Let's inject more public debt into the market. Push inflation higher, oh yeah." Inflation NEEDED to stop, the deficit spending NEEDED to stop, and as a result, the market NEEDED to come down. I am far more scared of a stock market that keeps going up past Black Tuesday 1929 valuations than one that declines from them.

We rallied from SPY $360 to SPY $410 on nothing but hopium that inflation would cool down and the Fed could pivot back to cheap money. Inflation didn't cool down and the Fed basically told bulls to get stuffed. We're heading at least to $360 and likely to retest lower. My guess is we bounce at SPY $340 for the next hopium rally.

Its alright folks.

Everybody just keeps ignoring the housing crisis. Housing = your LARGEST living expense, bar NONE. And for rentcels in the last year its gone up 20%.

Houses too expensive to buy.
Apartments sky high occupancy levels.
...but we Keep adding regulations stopping homebuilders from building cheap homes.

Of course everything will be fine.

Where you gonna live if you can't afford your apartment? There isnt anywhere else to go but your car.

Fk all the other intervention, we need to incentive homebuilding at a pace nobody has seen before. Build more houses and apartments ASAP. Your representatives are absolutely ****in useless goons. Housing has been in a crisis level for a decade, but now rates are high its IMPOSSIBLE to buy and commercial interest rates make homebuilders EVEN LESS likely to expand developments.

Congress needs to get a homebuilding act going, like now. Incentivize building apartments and smaller homes, tax credit by the unit. We dont need bigger houses, we need more quantity.

There are more housing units per capita today than there were in 2000. The housing supply is fine. Housing demand got retarded due to Fed stimmy, but they are currently correcting their mistake.

No its not. If the housing supply was fine, multi-family units wouldnt all have occupancy rates of 90-95%. Thats why rent is going up because you dont have anywhere else to go. There's zero competition and its too expensive to buy a house.
