Seems the show is making it more multidimensional.

Halbrand being Sauron is interesting. We'll know if he somehow helps Celebrimbor forge the rings. Perhaps they will give him the name Annatar. Halbrand does not behave like Sauron though. In fact the only person who seems remotely Sauron like is the bro that fell out of the sky. He's the only person with power to match Sauron's. And he hasn't been named yet. Perhaps he finds the elves, and they name him Annatar.

Also pay close attention to Pharazon. He will eventually defeat and capture Sauron only to be corrupted by his whispers. His plot arc will be epic and totally fuking metal. We're talking human sacrifices, raping his cousin, and laying siege to the heavens type chit bro. There will be an epic scene where God (Eru/Illuvatar) makes the world round so no men can ever sail to Valinor again.

Regarding Uruk claims to the land, if we are being more openminded, Morgoth feels Eru fuked up and ruined the world. He wants to make it better, like Satan did. He enslaved the orcs to this end, caring nothing for them. It seems Adar wants to lead the orcs to freedom. While he is brutal, he seems to genuinely care for his "children" in a strange way. He's probably been added to make the villain more sympathetic and interesting. Perhaps he will also fight Sauron and die a hero, somehow redeemed. Who knows?

It's a good story so far.

Halbrand will likely end up one of the wraiths, as will Theo perhaps. It makes perfect sense that the dude who fell out of the sky is Sauron. Nori senses the darkness in him. Everything he touches dies. His powers are destructive. He doesn't know who he is. But I bet he died and was sent back. Even Sauron and Morgoth play a part in Eru's song though they think they defy him. It is possible Eru sent him back since it is his will to create the struggle (lol).

Maybe this also explains why Sauron largely ignored hobbits. Maybe part of him remembered Nori's kindness...
I really enjoy how even though the books have been around for ages, this style can be talked about for hours and hours on end with theories and seeing how things will play out. Yet, for some reason, House of the Dragon, is very linear in it's story and we literally all know how it turns out. Whereas even though everyone who has seen LOTR knows how things end, a lot more of the population don't really know or understand the origins. I've seen about the same amount of episodes into both shows and I always feel satisfied or awed or thoughtful after a Rings of Power episode, can't figure out why so many people say this show sucks over HOD. Maybe because all of the new age soy boyz grew up with GOT and were just babies back when LOTR came out.

Nah - that'd mean he lives thousands and thousands of years until the end of LOTR, and I don't think he can.
We know the Valar sent him from a place where they live for Eternity and at the end of LOTR he returns back. So where's this idea that he hasn't been living for thousands of years? I'm the farthest person from being a LOTR geek but this answer literally took 5 minutes of intro reading.

There's literally a warning on the Wiki if you look up the Adar character that he is non cannon and only made up for the show. I mean I get curious and want to know answers like everyone else, but has everyone become so lazy to not do their own research? At least 3 of the people I looked up from the show were non cannon, just being used to move the story along.

Go back to my original theory that the Hobbits are descendants of the Harfoots and that Gandalf has a long relationship with them. Nowhere did you ever see Saruman have any "relationship" with anyone outside of being on the council of Middle Earth or whatever.

A lot more entertaining not only story wise but visually as well when compared to HOD. I'm about 3 episodes behind on each show but unless HOD does something different then what the show has been which is about 95% castle and staying in the same general place then ROP will continue to be my choice as they switch around to different visually stunning places and seeing different parts of the world and the people that exists there. Same like what we got with LOTR and The Hobbit.

If all you want is fighting then this show might be too high IQ for you or perhaps the hole in the ozone down there is having an effect on your mental abilities.

As a Tolkien fan, there is zero Tolkien fanbio wankery in this, that's the whole problem, it's just a modern poorly written, acted and directed ultra woke fantasy. Tolkiens early history of middle-earth was full of battles. I hate-watch it every week and see it gets worse with every episode, this brings me no happiness, I wish it was as great as LOTR but its pathetic, one of the worst shows I've ever seen.

I actually like the bad guy much more then the good guys in this show. Would be banger if bad guys win. I kinda like how the orc boss guy treats his orcs. Super nice guy in a evil way. I dont like the humans especially that woman who seems to be just a maid and then suddenly turns into some kind of leader for whatever reason. Also a lot of the young male cast who play the good guys are ***s. Orcs certainly portray a more manly society.

It's not perfect and could definitely be better.
I think the most exciting part of it are the OG characters and seeing them develop slowly into what they were in the original films. The mystery of who Sauron is is also quite interesting.

It’s not even that. It’s a terrible show from top to bottom, even if we don’t factor in Tolkien fanboy chit or wokeness. The pacing is utter balls, the characters and casting are dire (is ANYONE likeable in the show? Durin, maybe? The bad guys?), the dialogue is atrocious, and the acting is hammy and melodramatic in every scene.

I’m watching it and I find I don’t care for anyone or anything. Actually that’s a lie, I do find myself hoping that Galadriel dies slowly and painfully. Weird thing is I’m fairly sure she’s not meant to be the villain of the show.

It’s actually quite shocking how bad it is.

Halbrand and Nori are 2 dimensional as fuk. Actually pretty much every character is. Adar is decent enuf, as is Durin.

Re Galadriel: Likeability in concerns to characters is about their QUALITY as characters. It’s not about whether they are good or bad, but rather their complexity as people and whether they ring true. This is why we like Adar, despite being a baddy, because his character seems more nuanced and authentic. So, you can have Galadriel as a petulant bitch, but there’s gotta be more to her than that.

So what I think you’re meaning is that I’m not supposed to like Galadriel as a person, and for sake of argument let’s say that is the show runners intention, but despite that I should still appreciate her as a CHARACTER within the show, but I don’t. She’s just utter bollocks.

I grew up reading LOTR books, watching the LOTR movies, and I even played LOTRO for several years... so LOTR is pretty significant to me and I've been waiting for a new movie/show for a long time now.

But Rings of Power is absolute fuking trash (srs). I think it's a stretch to even say that Rings of Power is in any way at all related to LOTR (100% srs)

Rings of Power feels more like part of a broader political propaganda campaign than a show meant for entertainment. It's simply not entertaining. I wouldn't be half-surprised if Sauron ended up being a tranny (100% srs).

You've got it the other way around brah

Anyone who grew up with LOTR will hate Rings of Power. The only people I can see enjoying Rings of Power are people completely fresh to LOTR and never read the books or watched the movies.

House of Dragon is more similar to the original LOTR movies/scenery that I imagined in my head while reading the LOTR books, than Rings of Power is. Whatever Rings of Power is... is not LOTR.

Go back to my original theory that the Hobbits are descendants of the Harfoots and that Gandalf has a long relationship with them. Nowhere did you ever see Saruman have any "relationship" with anyone outside of being on the council of Middle Earth or whatever.

Gandalf can use desttructive magic he does.
'I galloped to Weathertop like a gale, and I reached it before sundown on my second day from Bree-and [the Nazgûl] were there before me. They drew away from me, for they felt the coming of my anger and they dared not face it while the Sun was in the sky. But they closed round at night, and I was besieged on the hill-top, in the old ring of Amon Sûl. I was hard put to it indeed: such light and flame cannot have been seen on Weathertop since the war-beacons of old.

Fellowship of the Ring Book II Chapter 2: "The Council of Elrond"

We actually see a little of this confrontation:

As Frodo lay, tired but unable to close his eyes, it seemed to him that far away there came a light in the eastern sky: it flashed and faded many times. It was not the dawn, for that was still some hours off.

'What is the light?' he said to Strider, who had risen, and was standing, gazing ahead into the night.

'I do not know,' Strider answered. 'It is too distant to make out. It is like lightning that leaps up from the hill-tops.'


He turned pine cones into fire grenades in the Hobbit

He destroyed the bridge in moria with his staff.

He drives away som nazgul on the pelenor fields


He breaks Saruman's staff. and ends Saurman's power.

In the Hobbit book, he burns many of the goblins of the misty mountains with a shower of burning sparks. Then chops down the great goblin.




Neither Gandalf or Tolkien wanted to show gross displays of magic.
