I actually disagree. If you're not healthy or elderly - then get any illness and die, the illness did still kill you.

What some people, screechers like NYPat coming to mind, but what they ignore -- People die. Old people catch the flu and die. Old people die in their sleep for no apparent reason. Old people get cancer. Old people catch pneumonia and die. Old people, unfortunately, they die all the time. I have older people in my life I love and cherish, so I hope I'm not coming off as gleeful in this declaration, I really hate it to be honest, but that's how it works. At some point we will ALL die.

What I dislike and disagree with are these attitudes that when old people catch the flu and die, we are sad and accept that they were old and could not fight off a relatively non-deadly disease. When old people catch covid and die, suddenly covid is the Black Death.

That is bullchit and unfortunately, it's 100% how NYPisspants thinks regarding this.

I think I read somewhere that normally 2.9 million die from the flu per year. Last year 2.7 million died from/with covid and 0 died from flu. Too lazy to look that up tho sorry.

The virus does not die at 6ft Pat. And once again..a a mask has no effect on viral transmission. The virus is .125 microns and N95 masks have pore holes of .3 microns and surgical masks have pore holes ranging from 16 to 140 microns and droplets around .2 microns can be atomized and have a hang time in cloud form for 6-40 hours..explain how you think a mask is effective...

Also back in May of 2020 the CDC released the results of 14 individual studies conducted by various universities and medical institutions on the effectiveness of the mask in preventing the spread or preventing contracting the influenza virus, which is 220 nm's on average. The results were all the same. Neither did the mask slow down or prevent the spread of the virus nor did it prevent or slow down the infection rate of the virus. So if the masks do nothing for the influenza virus why would it be effective against a much smaller virus?

To what extent the 1.2 million dead Americans who died while having Covid, who were on average 78 years old, 80% obese and with an average of 2.8 comorbidities, but we do not know specifically in each individual case how large or small the role of Covid played towards their deaths.

US annual flu deaths typically range from 20,000 to 40,000. Even if you look worldwide, it's estimated at 1/2 million.
