Not a fan. After spending 4 years partying like an animal in the college dorms and some time in a city, it gets old super fast. It's nice in your 20s, but is just overpriced nonsense. Much rather live in a house in the suburbs and take an uber to the city of I feel like getting yucky. (Ded fkn Srs)

I don't even live in a big city but it's too big for me and I'm done with it. Virginia Beach/Hampton roads area.
Can't wait to get back to the country life. This chit sucks. Everyone is rude and in a rush, traffic sucks, and if you're an introvert it sucks because I like to go hike/camp etc and be in nature. Go to a park here and there's 1,000 people. Can't do anything without being surrounded by people. Gets annoying.
Small or medium sized towns are the way to go. Lakes, rivers, hiking, camping, actual trees and grass and not just concrete everywhere.

When I say "big degenerates" I'm not talking about a person using blow on a Tuesday night at the age of 50. It's kind of a light version of degeneracy, where a person is like 50 and still goes out to bars 3-4 nights per week and has been working the same $60k salary job they've had for 15 years without much motivation to improve.
I also have clients who made a bunch of money and are retired living in Manhattan at the age of 50. Things clearly worked well for them, and it's mostly because they got a good job and networked well. But I'd say those people are somewhat of a minority.

But the arguments folks make against never living in a big city (especially the folks ITT who never have, never will, etc.) are normally steeped exactly in economic terms: they can't afford to live well in a big city. But that's not an argument against the city being a great place to live for some. 30+ dollar cocktails on a rooftop aren't everyone's cup of tea, but the 'networking' you mention here (and in big cities in general, like London) is special, as are the performing arts, restaurants, and overall experiences.
Not doing lines of pepsi near a hobo, but fu*king a Bulgarian dancer who flew in to perform at Sleep No More? Exactly.

I would rather live in the suburbs or on the outer edge of the city.
You are still close by for social events and entertainment but you don’t have to deal with all the scumbags and rotten smells all the time.
People itt completely ignore the amount of crime, homelessness and rotten ass smells you love with day in and day out in the city.
Everything is stupid expensive, you get zero privacy and it also makes no sense to own a car, so you’re left walking, biking or using public transportation to go anywhere like an absolute bum.
Lots of late 20s to late 30s in the city that want to pretend they’re not getting older and use the city as a way to cope with the fact that they are really just grown up children that can’t get their chit together

2. Your car will get hit because the drivers are **** and no one gives a **** about other people's property. get a ****box if you street park your car
3. The city will tax the **** out of you. 1. car tax. 2. BS parking tickets. if you leave to go on vacation, you need to find a spot that will let you park your car for a couple weeks, or the gay ass city will **** your car in parking fines
4. The traffic is ****ing horrendous. every day you will wish you drove a bulldozer so you could shove the dumbasses out of the way. People will stop and not go on green lights. People will stop their car on a 1 way and block the entire street for 5 minutes to let their demon spawn children out
5. The people you meet will be fuking garbage 99% of the time. Every one is always moving in and out of the city, so no one gives a F about making lasting connections, or at the very least, not being a fuking scum bag
6. Related to above point, half the businesses will be scammy as fuk. Rents are high so they are always looking for a way to cut a corner to save a buck. Due to the revolving door of people moving in and out, there will always be new suckers for them to feast on
7. Air quality is ****. No more smelling the autumn or spring
8. **** head neighbors. Always a roll of the dice. They could be having parties and blowing smoke in your windows while you're trying to sleep and not be a degen
9. **** head landlords. If you haven't realized already, no one gives a **** about other people in the city. Prepare for your landlord to be a scumbug and never fix issues, never fix issues with **** head neighbors, try to harass you, and steal your security deposit
10. **** apartments. Everything is overpriced and garbage quality. Gotta be a baller to afford anything decent, and even then you are flushing money down the toilet you could have spent on property or investments
11. Grocery shopping sucks. Either sit in traffic with your car going slower than foot traffic, or go to the store every day because you can't carry much on foot.
12. After you live there for 6 months max you will realize the only fun thing to do is get drunk at bars & clubs and it will get old. You will also realize that the amount you spent on taxis/ubers getting to bars will easily exceed the money you would have spent riding in from the suburbs and saving money on rent.
So my advice is either live right in the city center where you don't need a car and can walk everywhere, or live in the suburbs and enjoy your freedom. American cities are ****.

It 100% has a shelf life though but good to experience

But as someone who lived in major cities the “duuude check out this roof top bar!” Stuff gets old, or “check out this gimmick bar that won’t be around in 5 years, the cocktails are served in fruit/beakers/whatever!” Gets old. Suburbs have zoning laws that divide social classes.
Big cities are a melting pot of all social classes.

I was with my woman in 29 Palms visiting a friend a while back, and we hiked in Joshua Tree. We loved it. We did some hiking before that in Bryce Canyon in Utah - I told her I could see us moving to SLC, she probably could too. Folks in Georgia were so nice. Her company organized a conference in Florida and...she loved it. Shocker, right? After the gibbering idiots in NYC were all "LOL @ FLORIDA LOL RTARDS ALL OF THEM LMAO".
But rural life is what it is, and I know it well too. I can't on a Friday make a res at Le Bernardin, or Masa, go see a show (off Broadway is great), and basically "soak up experiences". Some people aren't like that - so a city is wasted on them. But there's a reason I have spent so much of my life working in NYC or London (or elsewhere, including Beijing but..ugh). They offer more tofolks like me.
Someday I'll be in my countryside palazzo. Not quite yet though.

I think a lot of it just depends on your income and where you're at in life. I couldn't imagine moving to a large city in my mid 30s unless I made over 200K per year. I simply wouldn't want to take a hit in living standards.
However if you don't have anything to lose and its something you want. Might as well give it a shot for a year or two and knock that out.
I think a city is worth experiencing. But for me living in one is not the way.
With that said if you're social, good looking and have money. Cities can be great.

Not doing lines of pepsi near a hobo, but fu*king a Bulgarian dancer who flew in to perform at Sleep No More? Exactly.

With that said if you're social, good looking and have money. Cities can be great.

I’m 37, and if I moved to NYC right now, I could tear it up for at least 5 more years without a problem. I know a guy who is like 39 or 40 and still goes hard in Houston and bangs a lot of hot younger girls.

Being young and single in a big city is a true experience.
As a male in my 30s now though, idk if it's the way.
In my 20s I could enjoy the nightlife all weekend, drink until 4am when the bars in NYC closed and feel fine come Monday.
Now though, if I drank like that, I'd feel like absolute **** and my health would deteriorate quick, even if it was fun. Plus paying 1700+ a month for a ****hole studio apartment sucks.
My advice is to live in a suburb of NYC (or DC, LA, wherever) that has a train line into the big city. Enjoy it on the weekends or periodically, but still live out in the burbs where life is still sane.

Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesn’t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesn’t mean anything either.

Enjoy being raped and robbed in the streets boyo SRS. I'll visit big cities once in a blue moon but would absolutely never live in one unless it was in Japan or a place where people don't get raped and beat to death or stabbed or shot or
