Ukraine will never have nukes. They will be a green energy economy. They'll never have access to the fuel in the end. They are almost done giving enough political capital to Russia to make escalation unavoidable.

Russia is mad at putin for not being more abrasive and belligerent to the point he'll have no choice but to do so or he'll risk mutiny. It's why I believe he's behind a good bit of the perceived "terror."

Sure. My bad. "Ukraine" is winning.

Assessment with current variables isn't "wrong."

The overarching fact is that ukraine cannot stop what is happening is true. Look at the map. Feel free to celebrate empty areas "taken back." It's almost like Russians are fighting a war after taking few casualties to none and stopping a bonsai attack. I love that you think warfare is just clashing forces together. I'd love to be that simple.

Just the usual, what other observers would deem as bad for the Russian war effort isn't actually a big deal and was orchestrated by the Russians anyway.

Also the gloves are coming off, Russia will finally start taking it seriously, two more weeks, the usual deal.

I think we can all agree that Russia has permanently screwed themselves with this misguided invasion. They increased the number of NATO members including two new ones on their border. They've hastened Europe's transition away from their energy. They've shown the world how remarkably ineffective their army is. The videos of millions of Russians fleeing Putin's conscription shows how fractured they are.

Putin's legacy will be that of the one who brought down Russian prestige and influence massively on the world stage.

All of what I noted has already happened. Russia could take full control of Ukraine and it wouldn't change anything I noted.

Two new NATO members on their borders and the move away from their energy by Europe is huge.

You think American energy will happen as a sustainable source?

Do you acknowledge that Russia has made up European fuel sales to China and India in the 50-60% range and are projected to make up the remaining sales in the next year in developing countries?

Do you also acknowledge the Russian position on new comers to NATO?

These all happen to be things.

for russia or for sweden and finland? for russia i dont think it changes anything, but for sweden and finland it gives them more security.

which is what was so hilarious about people claiming "nato on russias doorstep!!!" when this started as if that was russias red line lol. russia didnt want ukraine to join nato because then russia wouldnt be able to attack ukraine without starting a war with nato. had nothing to do with russias security, russia has 6000 nuclear warheads, that is more than enough security.

It is about NATO expansion though. Sweden and FInland have never been under Russian influence. Ukraine always has. That has been changing. That's the difference.

ok so then the arugment being made is that its about nato expansion BECAUSE it interferes in russias influential sphere NOT because it undermines russian national security.

i guess that is a valid argument to make but just because russias influence is falling off doesnt mean they are justified in invading sovereign nations bro.

Well first of all it disproves that this whole not war had anything to do with NATO's expansion and just makes Russia look impotent after "threatening" Finland and Sweden for decades in case they wanted to join NATO and just changing their mind overnight and saying "k you can do whatever you want, why should we care haha".

Then there's the matter of NATO countries being within spitting distance (iirc 100 kms or so) of Severomorsk, the HQ of the Northern Fleet.

NATO can also directly keep tabs on the Baltic Sea - besides the Black Sea - and the Gulf of Finland, the entrance to St Petersburg's harbor. Also turning bases into NATO bases overnight, parking troops materiel etc.

Still waiting for a morsel of a source about Russians magically making up for lost income from Europe - you know, the major source of their profits. EU was/is paying premium prices while India/China were/are buying petro for a penny on the dollar, and it's still physically impossible to summon pipelines and/or tankers so they can just press a button and redirect crap from A to B.

They could go the chemical weapons route too. Not everything has to be connected to a warhead bruh. Russia would open themselves up to terrorist retaliation with very serious weapons if they did it.

And yes, Ukraine CAN quickly develop nuclear weapons since they already have the technology (they gave them up when the Soviet Union broke up).

you cant dangle nato membership, it isnt something that anyone can guarantee. there are guidelines and requirements for nato membership. if and when those are met then you need to pass a vote by unanimous approval.

ukraine has had territorial and ethnic disputes going back to at least 2014, that alone disqualifies it right off the bat. they knew that, we knew that, russia knew that.
