STORY TIME!

A number of years ago my dad had his truck stolen from his drive way. Thinking he was doing the right thing he called the cops and when they arrived (almost 6 hours later), and filed an incident report. They basically give him the schpeal that they'll most likely never find the car and they went on their way. A week passed with no word from the department so my dad takes matters into his own hands. He gets on Craigslist and lo and behold, sees they're trying to sell his truck, and they only live about 20 minutes away. My dad casually inquires about "his" car through email and eventually gets an address out of the guy, so late at night I drive with my dad to the place, we find the car and with his keys (because it's HIS car) just gets in and drives off with it. The next morning my dad calls the police department and tells them not to worry about his missing car because he got it back and when he explained the story to them they started lecturing HIM and threatening to fine/jail him for not letting the cops handle it. From that moment on my dad never bothers the cops for anything anymore.
