Misc beat battle thread #3

All entries welcome boyos, otherwise come in to judge who flipped it best.

Due to a lack of audio being posted by miscers I have picked this from the crates.

Sample pick is Play Fiddle Play by Neal Hefti.

The rules are pretty lax - use the sample somewhere in the mix, add your own drums, bassline, extra sparkle etc, and have fun.

Ya'll have to collab, srs.

Kormo had the most abstract/unique mix. The speed to effort ratio of his production is impressive.

Jandels knows how to implement his baselines to keep the beat flowing. Best bass out of all of the tracks, and I wouldn't mind hearing it on a loudspeaker. Great chill beat.

Malakaibeats took me by surprise with the Halloween theme of the track. Adding that sinister feeling with the hip hop beats was a nice touch.

Mirin hard brah. Those drums are awesome and fit the chopped up sample perfectly. The mix is fine, sounds good to me. I should have spent more time on my drums, but ended up spending about 90% of the time on writing the orchestral/choir parts. I also could have done some mastering to get the volume higher, but oh well lol.

Thanks man! A cinematic sound is exactly what I was going for. I played all the choir sounds, including the staccato chants, using a NI Kontakt library called "Nucleus", it's really good.

It sounds awesome. I've gone PC-free and just use the MPC One in stand alone mode now, so all the bass, synth, keys can come from the onboard plugins. I recenty picked up an Roland E15 from the early 90's which has some nice sounds. I want to start sampling it directly into the MPC.
