People seriously need to pick up a ****ing book.

Many will agree that the Treaty of Versaille was and till this day remains one of the biggest mistakes humanity has committed.

The treaty( if you study it) royally ****ed Germany. It literally was a “ we will make your lives miserable even after the war” treaty.

This paved way for Hitler to rise from the ashes.

Not a chance. It wasn't like in the movies. Most of the killing would have occurred after one of the armies was routed. Until that point, they would just be shifting around in their phalanxes.

How would one side be routed without their numbers being decimated from being killed off? Wouldn't they still fight back if they were alive and didn't retreat?

Man, honestly I've been talking about my great grandpa a lot but idk it just really struck a cord with me: he never was around for my grandma. He just became like a big drunk and wasnt around anyone.

It breaks my heart, it makes me wonder why my grandma was so cold too, it like transcends decades the effect of the war: her dad never saw her get married, he only went to his sisters house n danced with her in the living room before the wedding. Im assuming crowds made him really uncomfortable, I know he did his duty because he practically drank himself to death in a veterans home.

That man's blood runs in my veins, im honored to have a picture of him in his uniform. I just wish they knew how much he suffered back then.
Truth is out there

I’m something of a war movie connoisseur myself having watched over 500 war movies in my lifetime. This movie was really good but didn’t really care for the story. It showed the perspective mainly from the German side from school age to a few years into the MC war career. I would have liked to see more of a shock/awe factor from the characters or a “why are we fighting/why are you fighting us” type of thing.

Thought that was evident by the speech the old man gave.

I'm almost done watching and pretty impressed, yeah you can ding it for english speaking germans, but I'm just glad that the Great War is getting recognition for all the reasons mentioned here. The absolute horror and brutality is lost on most people today. And it went on like that for four years. All that life lost for no reason.

Back in 2019 I bought a full S&W M1917 rig from a coworker, his wife's grandfather had carried it during the war, they needed cash and you don't find WWI souvenirs with that provenance anymore. Need to research his unit and where they fought now.

They had bullet action rifles that were deadly and effective and so good they were also used in ww2. 10 round clips

What you are describing is napoleanic warfare/us civil war. Those were bruuuuuutal wars.

Now watch this

A young bull and an old bull were standing atop a hill looking at a bunch of heifers in a field below.

The young bull says "Let's run down this hill and fuk one of those heifers."

The old bull replies "No. Let's walk down there, and fuk them all."
