Doubt it has something to do with form. Lay out your warmups, sets & RIR on a typical workout.

What is your plan for progression? Or do you just go in and try more weight/reps every week for weeks/months in a row?

warm up some shoulder rotation nonsense, possibly a few inverted rows

then ~6-8 unweighted (unweighted hasnt increased beyond like 12 either)

then reps. no RIR, 3-5 x5 usually

something of the latter tbh, or like 3-5x5. it's not ultra consistent on the long term because i dont make much short term progress or end up regressing workout to workout.

ie ill notice 5x5 twice a week, or 5x5 once and unweighted 3x10 once will not carry over consistent into the next week

sometimes i try this to some effect by doing heavier neutral grip ones but it doesnt go far lol

Alright you do this twice a week? Might be pushing it too much, assuming you do heavy rows too. 5 working sets at 80% of your 1rm is alot.

I like to ramp up to a heavy triple/single 0 RIR then follow it up with a bodyweight amrap. Continue with 3x8-10rep db/bb rows 1-2 RIR.
2x week
Sometimes do a speedwork/low intensity day to recover.

Always made progress.
Ive come to realize lower/moderate volume & maximizing recovery is key as a natty.

Depends mostly yeah, dead hang too. Sometimes cheat a pr with sloppy form. Point is to get that one 1-3rep max effort set in then reverse pyramid down, im not too stressed about the form.

Alpha destiny has some good chit on weighted pull ups. I got the ramp up & reverse pyramid idea from his videos. Guy has like a 4-5 plate pull up natty. Goldmine channel for weighted calisthenics

If you are doing them twice a week, do 6-8 reps once a week and 3-5 reps once a week.

Instead of 5x5, try 5,4,3 and the other day 8,7,6. With 5x5 you are really shaving a rep on the first couple of sets, make the first set a genuine 5.

There's nothing wrong with 5x5, but it's not working, so time for something different.

yes your form is probably the problem all the other nonsense I just sifted through in the responses is horrible advice

watch how Mike Istaetel and Paul carter do their most recent lat pulldown/pull up tutorials. That is how you should be doing your pullups. I involves keeping your arms infront of you not to the side and pulling with thoracic flexion and humerus external rotation

you're likely running into having 1 muscle fatigue so another muscle takes over and neither are actually reaching close to failure because they are "spotting" each other rather than the intended target muscle carrying the brute of the mechanical tension leading to failure

You chicken winging to the bar?
work on form...maybe switch to parallel bars for a bit. Or vice versa

Might be ya grip
Might not got enough dip on ya chip

Try to hit 20 reps BW then go back to weighted
should get a decent pump over 15 pullups

You think applying conjugate style training to weighted pull ups is horrible advice alright buddy.
