This is also dogmatic nonsense. Try eating 1500 kcal worth of cupcakes for six months and see what happens to your body composition. Not to mention your satiety levels. You'll just end up binging, which is why "just eat less bro" is worthless advice.

However, it's true that in the end no one escapes thermodynamics.

I dont even track my macros, all i do is eat sufficient protein and thats it and i advise this for everyone that asks me for advice. Macros are cope

CICO has worked perfectly for me.

But I read some stuff on the internet that said it's garbage so it must be.

Calories matter when losing weight. Nobody should give a single fuk about losing weight though, the only thing you should want to lose is fat. And burning fat isn't just calories in/out. Other things matter almost or just as much.

I see people talking about keto. Keto is fine, if you keep calories down and at that point it is CICO, but not in small part to the massive drop in overall insulin from not eating carbs and only moderate protein. Keto and excess calories is not going to burn ****, though.

Meanwhile, someone young and active with a solid metabolism, they also need to cut calories but I doubt Keto would do anything extra for them and they might not have the energy needs for their activities, depending on what they were.

There is no magic bullet or simple answer.

Ultimately you MUST adhere to CICO but there is nuance beyond that which may or may not apply to that specific individual.

Burning fat is 99.99% CICO, stop coping and trying to make things more complex than they need to be

80/20 principle i think applies here

think of 5 causes for fat loss

CICO is responsible for 80% of it. if you concentrate on this one thing and keep this in mind, it'll account for most of your results. you can get into the nitty gritty and complexity of the other 4 things (i.e: macronutrients, micronutrient composition, timing, etc) that is responsible for maybe 20% of your fat loss results. but these are more complex variables that tend to be harder to follow, and don't account for nearly as much of the results. so it makes more sense to follow the main principle that is responsible for most of the results. in reality it's probably like 95/5 though.

alot of people get hung up on the minutae that isn't responsible for most of results. however you want to get enough vitamins/minerals in your diet so you don't suffer from any specific deficiencies and diseases which honestly is a different question not really that related to losing weight.

obviously the next question after this is how can i eat less, and move more in a way that is sustainable, works for my lifestyle and will lead to fat loss.

Meal timing is cope,
Micros are cope
Macros are cope (just eat enough protein)

Everything people post ITT is BS, CICO is 99%

Micros will help you become more healthy and chit but we're talking about losing fat or gaining weight or whatever, thats calories in vs calories out

weight loss is simple, just calories in versus calories out

but body recomposition is not nearly as simple and it is a spectrum of how much you put in you get out.

Most people are looking to recomp, not just "lose weight" so calories in vs. out is the most basic beginner principle

I lose more fat faster on the same deficit when on keto then when on a simple calorie restriction. This is anecdotal I know, but I've had years of experimentation. Cutting with carbs is absolute hell for me and I have to do tons of cardio on a high deficit to see any progress.

The satiation makes it easier to stick to it sure, but that's not the only benefit. IMO genes have a lot to do with how your body handles food intake. CICO is not the whole picture. It's more like Calories In vs Calories Used vs Calories Stored vs Calories Wasted, and not everyone's body handles carbs and fats with the same efficiency.

Keto is so easy comparatively. I hardly felt hungry, had tons of energy, my skin and hair looked great thanks to all the healthy fats. Once I was fat adapted I could eat a few chicken wings, cheese and olives and that would keep me full all day.
Same bro. I feel like dog on a normal calorie restricted diet. Always tired and weak and need a huge deficit and still have slow progress. With keto it just melts off. People who don't get it just dont get it. Genetics play a much bigger role in diet than people want to admit

If you want to do keto go for it but there's nothing magic about it.

Enegy in (calories consumed) energy out (calories burned)

If you're not getting your results go back and adjust your calories.

and the valid argument against keto is that carbs are extremely anti catabolic and if you are in a deficit you are in a prime state for muscle to catabolize at some point so being totally deprived of carbohydrates and relying on ketones, which are not very anti catabolic, will end up with more muscle wasting

It's not rocket science, but lol at thinking whatever on the label is exact. Or that you can exactly count the calories in a homemade meal. Even if you could-fuuuk that. Even if you could get calories to the dot, now you have to account for calories out, which is impossible. That treadmill says you burned 600 calories, based on what? LMAO.

Sure it's impossible to account for calories out but it's an easy fix.

If you're trying to drop weight/fat and maintaining, no scale change, nothing is happening, etc... This is a clear indicator your calories in and calories out are equal which means maintaining so...you need to lower your calories even more.

As of today I've lost 118 lbs over the last few years. I did try to stick roughly to a calorie and protein goal per day. Being active and using walking at first when you're really heavy helps.

At some point, time management is an issue and you need to lift weights. The more I lost, the less I walked and more I lifted.

Playing a sport (judo) helped with motivation and certainly helps you keep moving.

I personally found creating a small calorie deficit through food was sustainable, and making it larger with walking was the way to go for a good 60 quick lbs or so. Then, you can run and do other things...and focus your exercise time on lifting and sports.

Having that exercise deficit is good mentally imo, and also let's you eat enough to be satisfied and enjoy social settings.

Semen is a complex substance created by the male reproductive organs. The fluid is made mostly of water, plasma, and mucus (a lubricating substance). It also contains 5 to 25 calories, and is made up of small amounts of essential nutrients including: Calcium.

At the end of the day, yes it's calories in, calories out. How much mass you carry when lean comes down to other factors. Is someone with bad hormone profile going to be 200 pounds and lean? No. Can they be 135 pounds and lean? Probably
