Don't go ham and drink a gallon of milk every day and 4,000 calories, but I'd still do Starting Strength for 6 months. I used to think people should stick on it longer but meh, just build up a core base of solid strength and move on. If you want, keep pounding SS until the gains cease, adding in accessory work. Strongly recommend you do more arm work at the least.
Get strong, work on form, don't ego lift, hit maybe 225x5 to 275x5 if you want to push it (depending on where you're starting) w/ bench, comparable squat and dead (so 350-400 there probably). IMO, it doesn't impress anyone here but I think a 405 deadlift is a pretty good indicator that you're strong.
I'm thinking about where I was back in the day, I think it took me a good two years to get 225x5 bench and don't get me started on squat/dead, btu I started off rock bottom, injured, bad back, just bad shape and pretty ignorant. I hope most people could nail that 225x5 in a year or less, unless they're also starting from a low point like I was.
Also, while you're lifting - work on being consistent. Long term consistency is the absolute most important thing you can dial in. Hit every workout intensely, get your meals in w/ right macros, work on sleep and recovery, etc.

This applies to more than just lifting though.
If someone has gotten nowhere by 30, they're never getting anywhere. Chronologically, they have plenty of time. But if you're the type of person where rotting until 30 is acceptable, you're never going to turn things around.

I think I'll try and setup some cables to do pulldowns. Not 100% on that. Hopefully I'll have results to share with misc soon.

pretty much starting strength but I like alex leonidas's novice program. he's a natural youtube guy that is neither a powerlifter or bodybuilder and has pragmatic views on making gains.
I'd listen to him before rippetoe tbh
