Don't go ham and drink a gallon of milk every day and 4,000 calories, but I'd still do Starting Strength for 6 months. I used to think people should stick on it longer but meh, just build up a core base of solid strength and move on. If you want, keep pounding SS until the gains cease, adding in accessory work. Strongly recommend you do more arm work at the least.

Get strong, work on form, don't ego lift, hit maybe 225x5 to 275x5 if you want to push it (depending on where you're starting) w/ bench, comparable squat and dead (so 350-400 there probably). IMO, it doesn't impress anyone here but I think a 405 deadlift is a pretty good indicator that you're strong.

I'm thinking about where I was back in the day, I think it took me a good two years to get 225x5 bench and don't get me started on squat/dead, btu I started off rock bottom, injured, bad back, just bad shape and pretty ignorant. I hope most people could nail that 225x5 in a year or less, unless they're also starting from a low point like I was.

Also, while you're lifting - work on being consistent. Long term consistency is the absolute most important thing you can dial in. Hit every workout intensely, get your meals in w/ right macros, work on sleep and recovery, etc.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

SS actually seems kinda tempting if for no other reason than its 3x5. I did all pro's for a looong time and got used to having fewer sets. Doing 5 just seems exhausting to me atm.

SS is okay, but PPL is better imo. That being said, it's hard to phuck up SS, and its simplicity might make it easier for you to stick to.

If someone has gotten nowhere by 30, they're never getting anywhere. Chronologically, they have plenty of time. But if you're the type of person where rotting until 30 is acceptable, you're never going to turn things around.
There are people who lifted or played sports high school through college, got out and slowly declined and found themselves in their 30s in a bad spot. I was there, I just turned it around and re-dedicated myself to lifting and actually learned about training & diet, as I'd coasted through my youth knowing jackchit and just fuking around in the gym benching and doing curls for the most part.

Might as well just do BLSS I guess.
I think I'll try and setup some cables to do pulldowns. Not 100% on that. Hopefully I'll have results to share with misc soon.

I'm working on a lot of **** right now lol. It's gonna be slow

pretty much starting strength but I like alex leonidas's novice program. he's a natural youtube guy that is neither a powerlifter or bodybuilder and has pragmatic views on making gains.

I'd listen to him before rippetoe tbh
