i agree with this takemy issue with that is for the price you have to pay to get to the level of "good" sound bars is just far too expensive. what you spent on a sound bar could easily get 2 floor standing bookshelf speakers and a solid receiver. which i also think will sound better. the only thing it will lack is directional audio without surround speakers in the back.

1500 is too much for a sound bar. 1500 is great for an entry level 2.0, that can be build into a full surround whenever he gets out of the apartment.

then when hes ready to move into a home one day half of his surround sound system is already built and he just has to grab a center and surround channels. and the receiver is atmos capable if he wants to throw a few in his ceiling or simply use a 7.1.


personally i'll never get another sound bar, i tried an 800 dollar vizio sound bar and it was so abysmal it took me only like 3 weeks to replace it with these which sound absolutely stunning for music. i know the sonos does indeed blow the one i tried out of the water, but at a price point that's too much IMO.

For the people commenting on the high price, I'm Canadian, we are cucked by a communist leader and a TERRIBLE exchange rate, as well as inflation, so that leads to everything costing 100x more than it does in the U.S.

The 65" Sony you posted is the same price as this TCL, but I definitely tend to trust Sony over a brand like TCL or HiSense.

Denon has some great receivers, the new S series just came out. I have a x4300h but you dont need something that size.

Tower speakers can be picked up at a reasonable price determined by what you think sounds good.

I have a 55" sony bravia with a samsung soundbar with bluetooth remote satellite speakers and a separate subwoofer in my living room that sounds great and doesn't take up much space. It's probably over kill for an apartment and will definitely make the neighbors hate you if you want it to.

Granted for my man cave I bought an 86" LG thinQ TV (at Costco) and a 7.2 surround system. I have a 12" sub behind the TV and a 10" sub behind the couch. Right now I just have small separate speakers for the rest of the setup, I really want to invest in some towers for the fronts but I am working on other projects right now and with the subs they're good enough.

It's nice to have stuff that will integrate with Alexa or whatever home assistant you use, and also make sure you use hdmi-arc. It's a great signal and ties everything together with your TV controls, no need for separate remotes except for initial setup.

The X90K definitely seems to have better reviews than the X85K.

Now here's another option, really good reviews and cheap as chit.

Don't overcomplicate it, from what I have seen you say here it's simple, X90K or U8H. I don't remember if the X90K cuts res with FALD on in 2.1 gaming mode or not, the U8H does. If the X90K doesn't, personally I'd go X90K. Beyond that question it's a simple tradeoff compassion, the X90K will have better motion handling and reliability but the U8H will beat out the X90K in almost all picture quality metric specs.

Honestly I would go with the Sony and call it a day. It's gonna be better for gaming and have that Sony reliability and build quality. I don't have either side by side to say which looks better but customer reviews on Amazon and on various forums seem to give more positive feedback on the Sony than I'm seeing on the Hisense.

You'd be playing roulette on Longevity with the Hisense. I've read too many stories about them failing within a few years. Just make sure you got good extended warranty, I guess.

If you recall my genuine advice was to get a cheaper TV and use the savings towards better audio than a sound bar.
