Melissa Byrne, executive director of We The 45 Million, a campaign of borrowers working to win student-debt cancellation, previously told Insider that she "wanted to make sure that the justices look into the eyes of borrowers while they're doing the hearing," adding that "our actions will show that the people with debt are just regular people from around the country."
Wish they allowed cameras in the court so we can see the look of disgust on the justices faces while they look through the borrowers.

The hyperbole from these protesters is so over the top it's laughable. Biden/Harris have reduced the minimums for the income based repayment plan where most will pay like $150 a month while they get their chit together. If you need that $150 for diapers there are other options.

From the article:

MTG, who said on Newsmax that “it’s completely unfair” for student loans to be forgiven, had $183,504 in PPP loans forgiven, according to the White House.

Then there's thatfhaggotThomas saying minorities and the LGBTQ community that they're next. They don't GAF about future generations.

A reminder too, that Congress must fix the crisis. Not Biden. They control interest rates. They can reform unreasonable loan structures. Biden can offer band aids but the wounds are larger than him. To fix the issue you need Congressmen who actually care about the necessity of higher education for our future rather than old men with an obsessive hatred for Millenials.

Not a gotcha moment at all, my point is a lot of politicians against student loans being forgiven had hundreds of thousands and some millions forgiven.

I agree it should all be paid back and not forgiven.

My feelings on this topic:

1. If you take a loan and sign your name you pay back your loans (or have them forgiven/paid off by your employer etc)

2. Congress needs to do something about the ridiculous cost of college tuition and the loan programs. No one should be told to start their adult life saddled with this kind of debt just because they want a job that requires a college/university/graduate degree etc. We don't want a population full of tradies and no doctors/engineers just because the boomers fuked things up over the last 30 years.

3. And for those of you who paid back your loans already, good for you. But you shouldn't be hating on these kids just because they're trying to do something about the problem. It's like when the slaves were freed. Some slaves spent their entire lives enslaved, they didn't cry just because others didn't have to. Fixing the problem was the correct course of action, even if some people "got screwed".

Yeah, **** this PPP forgiveness crap, though. A LOT of the business owners around here are all for it while simultaneously being "hardcore anti-government" or whatever the hell that even means. They are hypocritical old jackasses.

If you are good, you get a scholarship.

If you are broke, you don't have to pay.

If you go and work for a wide variety of employers, they will pay your loans off.

More importantly, this isn't within the gift of the president, it has to go through congress. Trump couldn't issue an EO to build the wall and Biden can't issue an EO to pay off student debt. That's not how the system works.

If this EO is allowed to stand, precedent has been set. The next GOP president can issue an EO to build the wall and add 500k ICE employees.

It doesn't matter what the EO is for, either the president can cut checks for whatever he wants, or he can't.

I mean...they are "doing something", but forgiveness isn't going to fix the problem. If anything, it would likely exacerbate it even more.

The cost issue should certainly be addressed though.

First point - One of my sons got a scholarship and actually got paid for his undergraduate degree. His graduate degree on the hand was over $100,000 grand. He's going to graduate in May with his Physical Therapy doctorate.

Second point - Pell grants and federal aid are not keeping up with tuition costs. Poor people used to be able to graduate debt free, not so much these days.

I agree with the rest of your post.

Thing is, a lot of these businesses were forcibly shutdown, so you either give them a break, or watch another piece of property get boarded up.

Or you encourage the nuclear family, which increases the wealth of a household, where the parents set aside money each year for their children to go to college?

By the time repayments are required again in a few months, student debtors will have hadover 3 years of no interest and no payments required already.

If debtors didn't take advantage of that massive leg up with zero interest then that's on them. Had they put just $50 a week toward repayment this whole time the principle of their loans would be $8K lower, taking a big chunk out of interest they were supposed to have. If this whole time they instead spent all of the money they would have otherwise put toward repaying their loans how did they manage to get a degree at all?
