all you need is another politician to bring it up when they are on TV.

but they won't because they are massive hypocrites themselves.

so best bet is to educate voters so they stop going to the polls like lemmings.
good luck with that.

Because if they do "loan forgiveness" once, what's to stop it from likely happening again? Schools then might think "fuk it, lets raise prices even more!"

Higher education doesn't cost what the college cartel is charging. To stay "non-profit" (they are for profit) they piss away money at the end of the fiscal year. That justifies charging more the following year. Just like what's been happening in healthcare, the cost increases are mostly from ever growing administration. Suits talking in meetings about having other meetings.

Administrative bloat is jaw dropping, spiraling costs out of control. I have an in-law who's an administrator at Harvard. He makes I think about $160K, has a laughable degree and got the job purely out of family federal govt connections. I don't know what he actually does for work and he can't really tell you either. I love him to death but he's a glorified paper shuffler. He can leave for a weeks at a time, do a few emails while gone and nobody even knows he's on vacation. There are hundreds identical to him there. A sweet gig and a smart guy, but if he and hundreds other admin were gone permanently next week it would have no effect on students.

The college cartel must have their backs broken. All that free money they get from the feds, funneled through students has them about as fiscally responsible as a meth head with an inheritance. Student loan forgiveness via the feds does the opposite. It ENCOURAGES colleges to charge MORE.
Yeah Buddyyy! Light weight! Light weight baby!!!!

Interest-free payback? Extend payment window? Do whatever, just don't let them completely off the hook, that's all I'm saying. A lot of these dudes rail on all sorts of crap, especially student loan forgiveness, yet see zero problem with PPP forgiveness. They also want their SS, of course, and pensions, so the only entitlements they care about are their own.

I'm still completely against PPP loans, but I'd take full advantage of it had I been eligible. You'd have to be a complete retard not to take advantage of it.

My wife and I have student debt. If forgiveness ever becomes a thing, we will take full advantage of it. I'm still completely against it.

I'm actually not opposed to the taxpayers covering the interest of student loans and having the student cover the principal of the loan as long as they were making timely payments. We already cover lower education. I think it'd be a good middle ground AFTER the government shored up outrageous costs and pensions of many professors. There's a scam where their pensions are based on their 2 highest earning years so they'll work a **** ton of over time near retirement since that's when their pay is the highest, and have insane pensions for life.

Not all degrees are useless, but maybe you'd like to go to the hospital and have a high school GED tradie take care of you instead?

A tyrannical govtforced businesses to shut down. A bunch of losersvoluntarily signed a contract for loans.

Congress passed a recovery act that reimbursed businesses for the tyranny. Xiden unilaterally is forgiving half a trillion in debt.

A variety of employers, both public and private pay off student loans. There is (or at least was, I'm not sure it is still going) a scheme where federal employees had their loans paid off over 10 years.

More importantly, many private sector employers are missing a trick with this right now:-

New graduates want 10k-20k more than you want to pay.
If you give them 10k, you have to give everybody above them 10k or even bigger rises.
Instead of giving them 10k, you give everybody in the company 10k per annum student loan repayment.
Not only is the amount then set at 10k for all levels, not having to be 20-30k for more senior folks, the senior folks have already paid off the loans.
The total package ends up being the same for fresh grads, but involves a much lower increased expenditure by the employer.
Screw nature; my body will do what I DAMN WELL tell it to do!

The only dangerous thing about an exercise is the person doing it.

They had the technology to rebuild me. They made me better, stronger, faster......

Both were stupid events. You're trying to say that protesting against having to pay back student loans (instead of actually WORKING to pay them off) is OK, because a violent mob attacked the US Capitol a few years ago?

Why is there so much push to justify one bad program, just because other bad programs existed? "Hey this bad policy is OK, because someone else is a hypocrite!"

And while PPP was a bad idea, at least it was actuallypassed by Congress and enacted by the President, instead of Biden's Unconstitutional power grab and vote-buying stunt.

Yes
2. Congress needs to do something about the ridiculous cost of college tuition and the loan programs. No one should be told to start their adult life saddled with this kind of debt just because they want a job that requires a college/university/graduate degree etc. We don't want a population full of tradies and no doctors/engineers just because the boomers fuked things up over the last 30 years.
Get the federal government OUT of the personal banking & loan business.

Stop pushing the myth that every job requires a degree, and that a degree requires debt.
- Start with two years community college
- Select an affordable college
- WORK to earn money
- Endlessly apply for scholarships & grants
- Employer tuition assistance
3. And for those of you who paid back your loans already, good for you. But you shouldn't be hating on these kids just because they're trying to do something about the problem. It's like when the slaves were freed. Some slaves spent their entire lives enslaved, they didn't cry just because others didn't have to. Fixing the problem was the correct course of action, even if some people "got screwed".
Huge disconnect in that analogy. Most obviously, slavery was forced, student loans are a choices.
And with Biden's scheme, everyonein the country is forced to foot the bill for the much smaller number with student loans. That's people who paid off their loans, now paying for someone else. That's people who went to college without debt, now paying for someone else. That's people who didn't go to college at all, now paying for someone else.

Blanket partial student loan "forgiveness" doesn't fix anything. It perpetuates the problem, and encourages more bad financial decisions in the future.

All good points, but don't forget how much the GOP and the right-wingwantdumbed down education. I've posted a lot on this. They thrive on anti-intellectualism. Why do the right always squeal about evil Marxist cabals infiltrating academia, which is this purely BS CT?

Why Trump loves the uneducated is because highly educated people immediately see him for the fraud and the conman he is, and his child-tier vocabulary only works to hoodwink the uneducated.

And one of XterraRob's less nutty beliefs is where China might be getting a serious advantage over the US is in their investment in education. The greatest country in the world in one century will be the one that educated its civilians today.

We know higher educated people vote liberal and academia has a strong liberal bias. Because conservatism tends to erode when faced with a critically thinking, progressive mind.
Back off, Warchild.

Seriously.

Check my post history, I have repeatedly debunked this farcical accusation.
