Great grapplers seemingly defy physics with how heavy they feel, and how much pressure they can apply. Lowly skilled guys feel much lighter.
We have 185lb black belts / former all American wrestlers at my gym who feel like they weigh a ton, and 300lb white and blue belts who feel MUCH lighter.

You have a point but Ngannou isn't just some average 300lb guy, he's a powerhouse, the biggest freak the UFCs ever had. At the end of the day Gane was carrying him for a good portion of that fight
Ngannou is actually the type of person that walks into a gym and destroy black belts

We will see, just hoping the pressure and style of both guys doesn't end up with a social distancing fight.

Jones is doing A LOT of media. He's popping up for interviews on every channel, every MMA youtube etc. I never like to see fighters doing huge amounts of media before a big fight.
There is but one path....we kill them all.

I thought The mental warfare and body language from Jones was very strong. He coldly, dead stared at Gane when he spoke daring him to look over but he wouldn't. Gane's frequent fidgeting, nervousnous, and even submissiveness to Jones' stoic, command and control of that environment was also very interesting. What if anything that means for the fight, I don't know, but it was pretty badass entertainment.
It sounds like Jones plans to repeat Ngannou's blueprint to wear Gane out early and destroy him with wrestling in the later rounds.

on that topic, I honestly don't think there's a single thing Jones can do to scare Gane, here's not that type of Guy. If anything Jones is trying to reassure himself, even the things he's saying about his past fights being more of a challenge than Gane is telling, if Jones doesn't think this is his toughest fight it won't end well for him. Gane knows what he's dealing with and isn't underestimating him
I kind of have a different view of the fight, it keeps changing in my mind but now I think Jones will do well early, possibly pressuring him near the cage and getting some clinch strikes but get outclassed in the later rounds. I think once Ciryl finds his rhythm Jones won't have the answers

Jones also said Ciryls defense is lacking, he relies on backing away with footwork. Man I'm not sure if he's saying that to get in his head or if he actually thinks that, because Ciryls striking defense is insanely good. Jones is actually the one that's relied on posturing away with his extended arms

When Jones is pressured his go to every time is to extend his hand and circle. This worked throughout his career but became an obvious weakness exposed against his latter opponents.Haha, Jones would have been much more concerned if he lost his coke.
I don't think Jones has denied the challenge of this fight, but he is saying the challenge is not due to Gane having superior skill or technique better than him or that long list of legends and champions he has fought or anything he isn't prepared for. He is saying the challenge is if his GOAT range and level of skill and technique can defeat a very big boy heavyweight.
I will deem you a mf'n genius if Gane can outperform Jones in the later rounds. I can't imagine Jones breaking and fading. If Jones loses it will not be by getting outworked which is the reason Jones said Gane lost to Ngannou, he got outworked. It is not impressive for Gane to just still be moving during the Ngannou fight.
Typically it is the smaller guy that needs to work on not letting the big buy back them down, but Jones style is always stepping forward and Gane's is always going backwards so I think Gane needs to tag Jones early to back him down and slow the forward pressure to keep Jones off of him so he can manage his energy.

Jones keeps saying Gane was outworked but in reality the fight was extremely close and could have gone either way, arguably to Gane according to the rules since Ngannou didn't do anything with his position. But lets say he was... Then it means he was outworked by the actual heavyweight champion whose been on a rampage, destroying the previous champion.
Even after Ngannou beat Stipe badly Jones made a funny tweet about staying retired. Personally I think Ngannou knocks Jones the **** out. He doesn't have the defensive footwork of stipe/gane which you need against a guy like him, yeah he could try to clinch/wrestle but that doesn't cut it.
Bro, do you remember the Stipe fight that Ngannou lost? Despite getting hammered the entire fight he was still coming at Stipe with his arms hanging not getting phased by punches to the face. The dudes a monster
Stipe basically showed what you needed to do to beat him, but then Ngannou learned how to defend a takedown and it was game over. From this point on the only way to beat him is to do what Ciryl did and outclass him on the feet, but that's easier said than done.
I do agree that whoever pushes forward will have the advantage in this fight. I think it'll start off being Jones but will end up in Ciryls favour

I can't see Jones losing this one. If Gane can't handle wrestling Ngannou then how is he going to be able to deal with Jones? I think Jones wins this one convincingly.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

There's a couple things going Gane's way in the wrestling aspect
1) Against Francis he has wrestling someone bigger
2) Against Jones he'll be wrestling someone smaller
3) He's had more time and preparation since the Francis fight
4) He'll be expecting wrestling more, I don't know if he expected Francis to wrestle so much
Jones will still out-wrestle him, but these factors could help sway things

No doubt Ngannou is a unique type of beast and Stipe trying that style the second time got him pummeled. Considering Ngannou didn't even start fight training until he was about the age Jon Jones was when he became champion, it is crazy think what he would be if he had started training as a kid.
You bringing up the Stipe fights and how Ngannou very effectively improved his takedown defense in response and then even developed pretty decent offensive wrestling he showed against Gane that is very impressive to have done with his training time makes me think how much Gane's takedown defense will have improved due to the Ngannou fight and preparing for Jones. Takedown defense seems to improve pretty fast these days.

I remember Jones posting a walking around scale picture, when he was in his LHW prime - 218lbs. He does not have a natural heavyweight body, imo.
We will see in a couple of days.
