Although I will say, considering all the trouble Ukraine has caused Russia so far it probably makes sense to have invaded in 2022 rather than waiting until 2030 or 40 when they were fully inside NATO & equipped.

China has been pushing so hard to expand their power base, access to resources, and countries dependent on them

NATO is a defensive alliance in its very nature, building up defenses in countries along Russia in response to their provocations over the years didn't force them to do anything and is just Russian bullchit propaganda.
