Yeah I'm loving it too. Controls are tight and fast, graphics are sick.
Really hoping they remake RE1 next. Capcom has basically been printing money with these remakes so I don't see why they wouldn't.

It’s the gold standard of remakes. As good as the RE2 remake is and as good as the RE4 remake is looking, neither will match Capcom’s RE1 remake efforts. Not not only did it remain faithful to the original game, it EXPANDED on it with a whole bunch of quality new content, e.g. Lisa Trevor story line, crimson heads, burning bodies, etc.
If that game was a flop we would not be seeing all these subsequent remakes.

I'm a big fan of the originals. Was lucky to be gaming when they were new games, but I'm ok with departing from the original formula a little.

I’m not a purist or anal about a remake being a nigh-on carbon copy of the original. A remake is an obvious opportunity to correct any genuine flaws that existed with the original. Your inventory criticism, however, is not a flaw so much as a deliberate design decision, because “inventory management” was a big part of the original game. If you wanted more slots to ease the difficulty, you should have played as Jill.
But this is why I think the RE1 remake is the gold standard, because it’s the perfect balance of staying true to the original WHILST making some good changes and also adding cool new chit.

pretty crazy to realise 2 of the GOAT survival horror games were Nintendo exclusives lol, Gamecube severely underrated
anyhow gonna be playing a couple of hours this evening, already tested the water yesterday and hnggggg
also (pretty sad actually) surprised to see a game on day 1 without performance issues
says a lot about the gaming industry, did have to install a 28 GB patch on entering the disc though lol

I've almost beaten the game in one sitting, I'm already on the later chapters. Game looks friggin gorgeous too. Running it at 4k ultra at 120 fps. PC not even breaking a sweat. This is how you do remakes.

I've beaten the original so many times I've lost count (at least 10?), and I'm about 13 hours into the remake and this is hands down the definitive edition of the game. This is how you do a remake.

Glad that digital foundry touched on the fact that the ps5 image quality is kinda muddy ... One of the first things I noticed during the demo. It doesn't look as sharp as re8 or re2 remake. Hopefully capcom take notice and fix these issues.
I'll buy it eventually, so hopefully by then the game has a patch to fix that.

it's not THAT bad but I did notice it though
worst I've ever had it was with the first Medal of Honor on PS1, to the point I got actually sick but I just HAD to play the game since I didn't have the luxury of getting any game I wanted back then + all my friends were playing it as well lmfao
edit: what about Ray Tracing, on or off?

I though it looked a little low fps (PS4) but chalked it up to my tv not being the best.

But yeah, seems like both console versions are a bit iffy. ps5 with its iq and series x apparently has pretty wonky aiming with some deadzone issues .... have you noticed it?

for the motion sickness, turned a lot of chit off in the options now and played around with some others and it was better now (played about 1,5 hour with the new settings)
just gonna play through it with a few chapters at once, 2 hour play sessions max and I'll be fine I hope lol
can't say what triggers it because for 99% of games it's not an issue

I'm a huge horror game pussy, but it was fun enough that it was the first RE I finished.

fuaaaark I can never return to the OG after this
they turned an 11/10 game into a 12/10 game, insane
- RE4
- THPS 1+2
- Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy
trinity of ridiculously good remakes
(I don't really consider RE2 remake as a "remake" in the same sense since it's basically a completely new game, while the ones I mentioned above are in essence the same games)

Does anyone think they're gonna try to Plat this thing? I'm usually an Achievement whore & try to Plat all my games if I can, but the requirements here seem like too much even for me. I do very much plan on loading up NG+ tho as soon as I'm done
