mass stonings would be impossible without rocks, mass stabbings impossible without any sharp objects too

imagine taking everyone's rocks and pointy things away

if you really wanted to kill someone you'd figure out a way. gasoline, gun powder, poisoning, running someone over, cutting break lines.

guns make it a bit easier, but most of those guns are unregistered and obtained illegally or taken from daddys gun safe

the problem is society and mental health, not the weapon of choice

They always ignore or deflect that part. Literally people getting arrested for going to the park. People getting put in complexes called "quarantine" surrounded by armed guards all because they might break covid curfews.

Growing up I would have never imagined Australia was full of so many poosies. Not sure if it's recent (last decade) or what but apparently they are fine with it since you never see them complaining in mass about it.

For better or worse all our guns is what prevents that kind of draconian crap from happening here.

Deadly mass shootings were pretty rare in America until about 2008, still relatively rare but the occurrences have ramped up significantly since then.

Australian PM himself said that type of thing wouldn't work in the U.S. because we have over 350 million guns, Australia had like under a million.

And it didn't even reduce violence:

Homicides were falling before the gun ban.
They were falling after the gun ban.
The rate of decline was identical before and after.
Even allowing for a generous lead/lag affect, no homicide decline can be attributed to the gun ban.
Homicide was the second LEAST AFFECTED by the gun ban, armed robbery fell, but unarmed robbery fell even faster, and rapes rose.

And there have been instances of mass killings after the gun ban in Australia, but nobody cares about them because (maybe?) guns weren't used I guess, because all you people care about is banning guns, not actually making things safer.

Yeah it was pretty fked. I'm not excusing it. I'm just saying if you were a grounded, level-headed man who stuck to his word no matter what, it wasn't that bad.

You had to remain in your homes 23hrs a day, we're allowed to go outside 1 hr a day, and had to wear a mask outdoors, had military checkpoints, etc.

Aussie shootings/homicides were declining decades before bans went into effect. At the same time, America had a strong culture and not nearly as many shootings as we see today (inb4 columbine).

We define freedom a little differently over here too. Freedom is naturally dangerous, and if you feel secure because of your government I got some bad newz...

Didn't Australians receive some of the MOST STRICT repressions of human freedom and rights during the pandemic? You think that is a coincidence you guys lost your guns and then the entire society couldn't work without a jab or would be arrested for being 10m outside of their homes and only had 1 hour of freedom per day?

australia is a desert with some surfers who live on coasts. also people who don't know what a gun even is and live in bushes
