Just because you bought Returnal doesn't mean it sold well. If memory serves I believe it sold sub 1 million on PS and it didn't even move the needle when it was ported to PC.

HiFi Rush charted at #5 on Steam the week it launched, beating out Forspoken.

I don't know who Jeff Grub got his information from but I find it hard to believe that a AA Indie style game that was shadowdropped had high expectations for sales. Especially considering Tango's other title (Ghostwire: Tokyo) only sold like 100k total. I'd be very skeptical of this reporting from Grubb and I tend to think the reporting from Aaron Greenberg and Mikami that said HFR exceeded expectations are more truthful.

Funny how they don't make a peep about some game selling poorly on PS5 while it was exclusive to that platform, meanwhile they make a mountain out of the molehill that is whatever's going on with Hi-Fi Rush.

This is what my question as well. This game dropped when it was announced, a console exclusive and in a genre (rhythm-action) that isnt exactly amazing.

Wikipedia says "The game reached 2 million players by March 2023" I find that even shocking.

Returnal was a massive success for the company. It's one of *THE* next gen games as far as ps5 is concerned. Go to any "must play" ps5 game thread on any forum and you'll see Returnal plastered all over it. It's so good they released it on PC. This one game put Housemarque on the map due to its sheer success, lmfao @ even attempting suggest it was a failure. Shame on you.

I actually just scooped returnal on pc and it's pretty fun. More up my alley than the other ps5 stuff. Alot more fast paced.

I tried on ps5 for like 5 seconds but knew I'd rather play on mouse and keyboard at higher fps.

Returnal was a huge hit and put Housemarque on the map, they are really proud of their game. It's mentioned time after time in PS boards and sold extremely well....so well in fact that they ported it to PC really quick. It's the first and only true PS5 exclusive to be ported to PC.
