That was all just peak Bond fantasy stuff, like the creators just thinking "how outrageous can we get" and going for it.

Right, but the Craig movies have dumb plots and totally threw out spy technology thus making James Bond, a science fiction character, boring.

Spies in WWII had sleeve guns that could pop out and anal guns they kept...in their anus, just to name a few things.

Craig's Bond had almost no dialogue and no spy technology.

It was the same era that gave us a "realistic Batman" that had a car that could never escape a helicopter....unless Batman turned the headlights off!!

It was a time period of dumb writers that didn't like creativity.

it jumped the shark with the motorbike off a cliff chasing the plane in GE. Up until that point essentially every stunt was physically done by someone, so however ridiculous irl you were at least on the bounds of plausability

Yeah Brosnan imo was a good Bond, just got stuck with absolute chit movies. Goldeneye was a classic, the rest were bad to awful.

Rogers movies were the most fun, especially with his natural charm, although they were a bit campy. Dalton was the most bad ass, wish he did more of them. Daniel Craig was always a miserable bore.

Ye spot on, his movies were awful. Watching a Connery and Moore Bond movie always makes you feel good and entertained. Craigs were either boring or depressing.

idk why people shiet on the daniel craig movies. casino royale is up there with the best for me.

goldeneye is the GOAT for me though. mayube because its the first one i saw as a kid.

The older Bond movies especially with Moore had some crazy premises but to me thats what Bond movies are all about, larger than life and spectacular, rather than gritty realistic spy movies that they morphed into now. They lost the essence of what Bond was about. The epitome for a Bond movie was The Spy That Loved Me. It had everything.

The deal is that Bond is one of a few elite agents sent in when something we will never find out about is happening. So, Bond is a science fiction character or missions where something really nefarious is happening.

There's weaponized satellite, there's a secret terrorist organization worse than nazis or communists and they have infiltrated Russia, etc. Those are science fiction stories about "now" instead of the far future.

The one Craig movie was about water in Bolivia....

they all have something going for them (except the Craig ones, these are just pure chit)

- Connery brought SWAG/10 and set the tone for the series
- Moore had charisma and brought the lols everytime
- Lazenby wasn't bad at all but hard to judge on 1 movie
- Dalton had more srs tone and had imo the best MOVIES, that's not to say he's the best Bond per se
- Brosnan was entertainment to the max, he had one absolute masterpiece, one stinker and 2 decent flicks

He was also a pretty legit hardass irl. Not just smacking around broads for their slooting tendencies, but beating the chit out of actual gangsters.

Sticking with the spirit of the thread, License to Kill was one of the better Bond films. Barely remember The Living Daylights tho.

Dalton is the most similar to the Bond of the novels. Not that it matters that much, but it's true.

LTK is a fantastic movie. The dark and brutal tone of it was very refreshing after the cheese and corniness of some of the others, and that tanker chase scene at the end is one of the best action scenes in the whole franchise.
