You Biden supporters sure are sensitive. You guys short circuit if there's even a suggestion that there may be a chance that someone can perform well against Blumpf, even if they won't beat him.

Prior to the indictment, the polls were showing Desantis and Blumpf to be very close. Post-indictment, not so much. If DeSantis runs, he'll win some states and be competitive in the ones he loses, but Blumpf will definitely win the primary.

Well, there are a few reasons for this John.

You believe in polls, so if you believe DeSantis was polling well against Trump then you also believe Trump has extremely high approval ratings among republicans, DeSantis would have to threaten that to be a threat to Trump.

I generally don't believe polls are in the margin of error and can be easily manipulated to manipulate public opinion. Take Donald Trumps pre and post election approval for example, I believe Donald Trump has high approval among republicans, I just don't necessarily believe it was below 90% or that it went down after he "lost" the election. Look at Biden's approval ratings, yes I agree it's below 50% but I also don't believe it's above 30%.

You realize that the two are not mutually exclusive, right? When asked the question "do you approve of Blumpf" you can answer yes, but still have a different primary election preference. I believe that he has high approval among Republicans, but also there are a chunk who would prefer DeSantis to him. Approval/disapproval doesn't give the entire picture. For example if I were answering a poll in 2020 and was asked if I approve of Blumpfs job I would have answered no, even though I knew I would vote for him.

So yes I believe he has high approval ratings, and I believe that pre-indictment DeSantis would have been a legitimate primary challenger.

Hard to say. Ron hasn't announced yet.

But as of right now, Trump has about an 80% chance of winning the nomination. I'd go as far as to say 95%+.
