Edit: my wife and I have a business and each year the business distributes profits to each of us that are many multiples of our labour income. If I quit my day job I would still get income from the business, the income from labour is largely irrelevant at this point.

If you have the money, yes. You won't get the years back. On the other hand, your son won't remember any of it, and if you need the money, you may as well focus on that to make sure your son can go to college etc.

My daughter is 22 months and my wife and I both rearranged our work lives for her.

We each WFH 2-3 days a week do that one of us is always there with her.

We could both retire right now, but we chose this as a middle ground. We don't have to use childcare, we both get to spend plenty of time with her and neither of us gives up our careers.

We don't get anywhere near a day's work done when we are WFH with her, but we catch up on it when the other one gets home or when the munchkin has gone to bed.

I love spending time with her, but I also love what I do, so I found a middle ground.

Love and family is everything brother, those moments are priceless and can't be relived.

How is this even a question? If your day job salary is irrelevant because your main income is from your businesses, then it's a no brainer.

I quit my job and started a business that allows me to work from home and bought a house in the countryside when my son was born. Best decision I ever made. There's nothing more gratifying and meaningful than hanging out with my boy all day, playing in nature and enjoying the country life, then getting my work done in the evening when my wife gets home from work.

Srsly bro, you won't regret it. For me, it's literally the meaning of life. I wouldn't have it any other way. Money can be made, time can't.

My oldest is 7 and wrapping up first grade, my youngest will be 5 soon and starting kindergarten next fall. Last few years I've been pretty flexible with work and got to spend a lot of time with them where I normally wouldn't have gotten the chance.

I wouldn't change anything but here are some observations/points for you to consider:

-Outside of certain events or milestones, it is hard to remember them how they were when they were babies and toddlers.
-No matter how much learning you plan on doing, unless they are specially gifted, you really only have a small window during the day to teach them things while they are in the right mood for learning. The rest of the time is spent doing kid stuff, which brings me to:
-Kid stuff, especially for most men can get old pretty quick. It's not in the "hate-your-life" type annoyance like the misc suggests, but it's good to have some outlet or a way to work on other things yourself and get away from the kids to clear your head. Mine tend to get rowdy and often send them outside to blow off steam.
-For me, the most "meaningful" time is happening now, when they start learning things and are physically able to do them. When they are toddlers, you have to just keep them safe and kind of steer them in the right direction.

Get a minivan, it just makes your life easier.

We have a v-class and I highly recommend it.

OP, if you are financially able to quit your job or work part time to spend more time with your kid(s) then you should. The years go by so fast and before you know it he'll be a grown up. I am so thankful I was able to be with my son while he was young. He's 21 now and we have a great relationship.

His kid is 16 mo old. He won't remember shiet.

He may not remember specifics at that age, but he'll remember that his dad was around and very active in his life.
