OP I have worked in framing in the past....

If you are working for a GC you are going to be carrying lumber, beams, bags of concrete, etc....

maybe digging holes for piers if the GC is small.

a PSL beam is heavy as F but you would carry it with another guy, maybe 3 total. Be able to lift it over your head, walk up a ladder and put it in place.

You don't get in shape in advance for this, it isn't Navy Seals training. Start the job and don't quit.

I was a Union Carpenter for 5 yrs. Insulation. If you were good, you could meet what was required of you on most jobs the first few days of the week, then kick back Thursday, go home early on Friday. My top pay was $42/hr, but a journeyman was at $56 an hour. It was good work, but I couldn’t take breathing in that stuff any longer, so I quit & started my own company in a different field altogether.

Insulators do 2 main types of jobs..insulation batts or caulking/finish caulking, I became one of the best at finish caulking that only a couple people were decent at in my city, problem was most jobs were insulation batts, or overhead ceiling work, & I hated it. Good pay, good benefits, easy labor, but the material wrecks havoc on your lungs..even with an N95 mask on that you change 2-3 daily..(this is also why anyone that has worked with removing mold or insulation will lol when your average lib will tell you an N95 will stop viral transmission..it won’t even stop insulation fibers, it certainly isn’t going to stop a fukhing virus).
