It's funny to think of how Harvard was once the most elite school in the US.

Oh how the mighty have fallen. Hope they're lowering tuition rates with the way the value of their degrees have been lowered.

Wait, you mean that degrees in gender studies don't actually qualify you for chit in the real world?

I've been around the tertiary education system for about 11 years now. Not once was I ever indoctrinated into an ideology or worldview. The only thing I could possibly say was close to anything like a right-wing boogeyman was that it was a very secular environment. I wasn't taught an ideology, I was taught how to research things, critical thinking, how to evaluate different positions and synthesize evidence from multiple perspectives.

I find it very funny how environments where you're taught the virtues of skepticism, removed from a bubble of confirmation bias, exposed to a plurality of opinions on advanced subjects, learn the value of evidence and multiple perspectives tend to be left and liberal leaning.

I wonder if there's a connection there.
Are you allowed to have a different opinion than the professor?

Also, why did you find it hilarious to see a cat die by electrocution?

And yet you managed to come out being simply incapable of repeating the bleating drivel of every mainstream left-wing talking point.

But yeah, you weren't indoctrinated. Lol.

You know that utterly useless degrees that only qualify you to take a job as a Starbucks barista don't mean you've actually been educated, right? Most of the people who like to tout their useless degrees and how "educated" they are wouldn't even know how to change a tire.

No education is useless. There's an error in supposing that a degree is useless based on the subject you study and some expected economic ROI. If you know about Renaissance philosophy or Mesopotamian art history but it's unlikely to be economically rewarding, this doesn't make it a useless degree.

There is actual knowledge you have acquired and there could even be a job at the end of it that some people would like to have. It might be difficult to get that job but this doesn't make the degree useless. And if these degrees teach students to become competent researchers and learners and communicators these are marketable skills applicable everywhere.

The philosophy of pedagogy is wrong here. The point of education is to learn, not to simply improve your job prospects.

But if you go to a class with poor teaching which provides no real knowledge so you don't really learn anything, that's a useless class. And the universities, not the students, should be on the hook for that.
Back off, Warchild.

Seriously.

Clearly there is useless education. You'd think after X amount of years in life, you'd know not to steal from stores, smear chit on walls, let women pound your angus with strap-ons, or hook up with trannies and claim it doesn't make you gay.

Whenever Bodhy has to make a simple point- it's a novel of justification of why to ignore common sense. With a "PhD" youd think that might raise some introspection, but no, even that concept makes no sense to leftist types. He's totally not indoctrinated, at all!

My point was that the "useless education" talking point pivots on the entire point of education being mere vocational training for a specific profession. That's an assumption being called into question.

And no counter-argument as per usual, just lame personal attacks.
