Basically just saving myself some gas money and using the ride itself as my warmup rather than doing some time on the rower when I get to the gym.
I mean honestly I'm really looking at used under 200 bucks - very cheap, as long as it doesn't fall apart from being ridden 4ish times per week for 2.4 total miles lol.

I've had one bad injury on my knee from a crash, but gear-minimalism is important to me. Helmet only - no gloves/pads/chamois/etc. I don't even wear MTB specific shorts anymore because they're too heavy/hot. Board shorts for me.
You will find that your technique of holding the handlebars is most important as it relates to pains you have.
This is also true for saddle pain.
Fatigue leads to bad technique, which leads to pain.
Put your seat ALL THE WAY DOWN when practicing jumps. I'm assuming you don't have a dropper post, so you need to manually push your seat down into the bike as low as it possibly can go if you're jumping. A dropper post would be a great next upgrade if you really enjoy aggressive riding & jumping.
Yeah I never bring a pack anymore because it's cumbersome IMO. I do the camelbak fanny pack with a water bottle in it. Phone/keys/wallet/spare tube/tire levers go in the fanny pack, then I have 25oz water bottle on my frame, and 20oz water bottle in my fanny pack. Even if I do a 45+ mile ride, I just bring 45oz of water, and plan to stop at a convenience store to refill if needed.

I saw the dropper posts as a great option, yes. Cuz right now I'm mostly sitting on the seat since plenty of my trails are flat. How do you approach that or are you constantly changing seat height on your rides?

I always had a dropper until recently, I think I'm going to put it back on because it's just way too convenient.
I took the dropper post off to make the bike lighter/simpler

Droppers are a game changer during rides for me. I'm constantly changing my seat height during a ride. I do know people who don't care for them, and they shred. All depends on riding style.
I'm no jump expert, but if you're drifting to one side during a jump, you're pulling up on the bars. Most of the "lift" should come from pre-loading before the jump, timing the release at the lip, and letting your momentum carry you through.
I need to practice jumps, but I like speed, so I scrub most jumps. Little air as possible to and get both wheels back on the trail.
Rich Drew of The Ride Series has a lot of actually useful how-to vids on jumping.
Bonus he rides alot in AZ (south mountain), and his older brother shreds and lives near SoMo.

Finally got a Park Lock Ring Spanner HCW5 when I started track racing - total game changer. It bites on the ring and never slips - tons of leverage.

Down in Tucson visiting my dad for Father's Day weekend. Still in town so I decided to hit 50-year trail again. Last time I was here, I snapped my pedal off after a huck.
I got farther this time, made it most of the way through Upper-50 until I ripped the bead off the front tire from the rim. Went down a steep slab, and turntoo sharp at the end, ripping it right off. Instant flat, and no backup tube, or even air. Had to hike out about 2.5 miles.
Took a couple pics, but just my bike. Can't meet up with any miscers who ride! So you get non-action bike photos!
Mullet full-suspension single speed.

Brah, you gotta buy the ONE UP edc pump/tool set.
It will save ur azz in that scenario.
I also bring a tubolito with me. Super light, fits in fanny pack easily.
EDIT: I also bring a park tool sidewall boot.
got caught out 9 miles from the car once, and barely limped home.... wasn't fun.

So there heavy traffic at a 4 way intersection snd you want to make a left. Do you use the crosswalk or get with traffic? Do you use those ****gy hand turns?

The nice thing about bikes, you can also just go straight through the intersection if it's safer, then find your way back to the road you wanted to go on in the first place.
I always prioritize physics over 'law'.
The laws of physics dgaf about what your jurisdiction says you're allowed to do. If "using the whole lane" is legal, that doesn't mean it's the best option. Take the sidewalk; nobody is ever walking on them anyways

We have a 45mph road here, nothing along it, cars go 55+ down it. It has a bike lane. It ALSO has a double wide sidewalk that goes in a dead-straight line with almost no interference for about a full mile. Not even suburban homes along it.
Guess where I ride when I'm going that way?
On the other hand, we have 35mph roads with speed humps along them, no bike lane, and a sidewalk..... I stay on the road in that area.
The laws of physics dgaf about your local laws. Whenever see some dumbass roadie using a full lane in evening rush hour on a busy ass road I'm just like.... OK, have fun dying - at least our governor approves!

Im a roadie so I would make my way to the front of the line to the right of a car and just take the turn when safe.
Part of riding on the road is taking command of the road. Nobody is going to give you space, you need to take what you need.
