People who don't sleep on their sides have inadequate waste disposal in their brain (the primary function of sleep). People who sleep on their back experience sleep apnea and snoring. All of these can lead to mental difficulties like poor OP over here is experiencing.

How does literally every mammal sleep? How would you sleep outside on the hard ground if you didn't have the modern comfort of your bed? On your side, with your arm under your head.

Since moving to the ****ing desert sleeping on my back leads to an accumulation of concrete like mucus at the back of my throat in the morning. Usually sneezing can help dislodge it but it is a straight up mucus brick every morning.

This happens to me too. If i fall asleep on my back in bed, on the couch, leaning back in a chair or any other way, i wake up with my brain working but i can't move at all for what feels like forever but im sure is only a few seconds. I have to consciously tell myself to move and sometimes still can't. Once i can focus myself and move my head, then the rest of my body wakes up.

Often times ill even have some hallucinations during that period of being stuck, but that only happens if I'm in bed and completely laid out flat on my back. Its pretty wild, so i do what I can to avoid sleeping on my back. I'm a stomach sleeper with both hands under my pillow.

Sometimes when I'm feeling extra brave and need a shake up in my life, I'll eat a few canned jalapeños, sleep on my back with no pillow.

I'll either have a nightmare or a sex dream, I'll either have hat man jerking it in the corner shadows of my room, or a succubus riding my morning wood sucking the life out of me through my schlock.

It's just a grab bag of fun

People who sleep on their stomach & sides are much more likely to experience musculoskeletal issues & compressed nerve bundles; they tend to toss around all night

The correct way to sleep is on your back with your neck as straight as possible

sleep on your back. let them side sleep and put their arms on you.

my shoulders are too jacked/wide to side sleep.

There isn't one; your shoulders will always throw your spine out of alignment relative to centerline, no pillow can correct that

People will naturally compensate by protracting their scapula but then you're now compressing the 3 main nerves that run down the arm; therego tight neck tissues that keeps chiropractors in business

But who was "recovery position"??

This is scientificly proven to be the best sleeping position. Lol at you backsleeping mouth breathers. Women sleep on their stomach because they have tits that make it more comfortable to lay like that.
