What about water? Apparently they only had "minor rations" whatever that means. They were not only close to suffocating, but also at borderline dehydration and starving from not eating for days. If someone really kept their cool and kept doing the knocking for 3min every 30min emergency signal that's some serious mental fortitude.

But yea they dead by now

Here is a guy who spent as little money as possible by skirting safety regulations in order to design a sub that could only be compared to the death trap in ‘Iron lung.’ He is currently sealed inside that death trap with less than 15 hours of breathable air.
