I wrote what many others including Navy have stated who aren't y'know .....Hollywood filmmakers.

So seconds before a millisecond implosion I'm supposed to believe they all had dread and were being introspective and maudlin?

Nah.... Kid was prolly doing Rubik's as he died.

Don't worry phgit.... you'll get your melodramatic movie version you can take your boyfriend to.

didn't mom originally tell everyone how scared the kid was to go and he didn't really want to?

She said: ‘It was supposed to be Shahzada and I going down.

‘I stepped back and gave the place to Suleman because he really wanted to go.’

The stern did.

The bow did not as it sat there for 2 hours filling with water. The stern shot straight down after it broke apart.

The Abyss was written and directed by James Cameron.

It appears he has decades of deep water and submersible experience. James "Mogger" Cameron Brah is the real deal.

Watched The Abyss last night. For some reason the video quality was twice as good as Leviathan and Deep Star Six, which all came out the same year (1989). While I would say Leviathan and Deep Star Six were more gore and nipple filled-entertainment, The Abyss was the better movie over-all, especially with a young Ed Harris (Who has never actually looked young). Plus you get to see a mostly dead broad's breasts exposed, rather than just pokies.

Dood made "The Rock." Without Ed, it woulda been ****. Some of his rants from that movie still give me chills.

EDIT:Also Connery was goat in that joint.

It was an estranged Aunt that said the kid was scared, and she was misquoted. Media gonna media. Obviously they went with the narrative that gets clicks rather than the truth.

Can anyone sue if they all signed their waivers accepting that death is a very likely outcome? A sub that size needed to be twice as thick as it was. I'm quite impressed it managed to go that deep successfully in the past, even if something went wrong every time.
They had a 3 strike policy apparently, if 3 things were incorrect or went wrong during the mission, they cancelled and tried again another time. Very lax for a system which had no redundancies for critical areas like pilot controls and communications

Yes, a waiver can't get you out of negligence.

If you go skydiving and sign a million waivers, the company can't forget to pack your chute and say too bad you signed the waiver knowing skydiving is dangerous.

A court could easily rule it was negligent and reckless to build a sub out of used rv parts and tell customers it's safe for 6000 pounds of pressure. Not like multiple experts, including their own guy who they fired, didn't warn them.
