i love the fake tradie vs stemcel war when really we need all training and education to be done more efficiently and effectively in this country. All the status quo does is continue to gimp America, but hey, people don't care to know anything anymore so oh well. When we become a chithole full of retards promoting antiscientific and ineffective policies, and fall behind technologically, you will all see. Until then, have fun dipchits.
The discussion shouldn't even be about student loans. Student loans shouldn't even exist. College should not cost this much or be done in such an obsolete way. And everyone should be entitled to education and job training.

The colleges themselves need to be made to be pro-active. That is where a lot of money already is.

If you record a good math lecture, that same lecture can be reused indefinitely. What is the utility in having a classroom and requiring people to come and gather and fuk and waste money and resources? There is so much bloat.

The predatory loan system used by colleges is indefensible. But the idea of taxing tradesmen and laborers to bail out the 1/3 of the country who took out loans to go to college is just as indefensible, especially when we all know this was just an attempted handout to higher-earners/democrats.
The best path moving forward would be:
1) tax college endowments to pay for student debt relief
2) make student loan qualification account for future ability to pay
3) colleges who continue to accept/graduate students who are unable/unwilling to pay back their student loans will no longer be eligible for federal student loans for their students

Yeah, no.. You borrowed money and you can pay it TF back. It's really not that complicated at all.

It's a hot night. The mind races. You think about your knife: the only friend who hasn't betrayed you, the only friend who won't be dead by sunup. Sleep tight mates, in your quilted chambray night shirts.

With that being said - they knew what they were doing, and I don't think others' tax dollars should be having to bail them out (and yes I feel the same way about big businesses and all that too) for poor decisions. Especially when you have ones that made little to no effort to minimize costs/the amount of debt they went into.
Adults should also quit brainwashing kids that degree = success and you should immediately go to College after High School.

But the thing is there are always going to be predators whenever money is concerned. Used car salesmen, time share salesmen, solar panel salesmen, religion "salesmen," etc. And education is no different apparently...
It sucks, and I hate it for them, but... at the end of the day they did sign their name on the dotted line. So IMO their efforts would be better spent trying to keep other kids from making the same mistake.

You guys remember the wonder years? When the dad's Hippie daughter went to college, and he asked her what classes she's taking? And she answered something like, "African American history, Female History, Poetry, and Sociology," or something along those lines.
He made this pained grimace like, "This is what I'm paying for???"
Reminds me of these people bitching about paying back their loans.
As for the con, there is something called Google, which will tell you what major will lead to what job. It also tells you the worst Bachelors Degrees one can have.

And there are literally endless stories of 18yr old kids buying their first car for $25-30k with no money down and financing it for 72 months at 30% interest.. And when it's all said and done, their new $25k car will have cost them a small fortune.

Personally, I knew exactly what I was doing and I'll end up paying about $.20 on the dollar. Except I work for the government (I'm working right now), so really, you're paying it.

So what's the problem though? You just don't think you should pay back the money you borrowed, or what?

From Abbeville in Wilcox County to Zebulon in Pike County, Helping Outstanding Pupils Educationally (HOPE) has provided more than $14 billion of financial assistance for educational programs beyond high school.
The legislation for this program was scripted in 1992 under the supervision of Governor Zell Miller and launched a year later to provide assistance towards the cost of tuition at eligible Georgia postsecondary institutions to incent and reward Georgia’s high achieving students.
Funded by the Georgia Lottery for Education, this unique initiative has helped more than 2.1 million students at eligible state public and private universities and public technical schools to create the “better-educated work force…and invest in (Georgia’s) economic future”

THE POST-9/11 GI BILL
This program is the most widely used GI Bill option. It provides up to full college tuition for public and in-state schools, and more than $25,000 per year at private or foreign schools, as well as money for housing and books.
