I'm all for incentivizing the STEM programs in colleges. However I don't think the tax payers should be on the hook for hobby degrees like gender studies or art history and the like.
Before you pick your degree you need to look at the demand for such a degree and what it is worth. Talking out $100K in student loans to get a 4 year degree that has an average salary of $30K isn't really a wise investment and tax payers shouldn't be on the hook for your bad investment choices.
Having said that there are numerous ways to reduce your loan obligation when you get out of college.
1)Attend a community college for a year or two and knock out all your gen ed classes then transfer the credits to your university of choice and finish your bachelors.
2)Join the military. You can take classes while in the military and get a good portion of your degree paid for when you get out via the GI Bill.
3)Go to a trade school. You don't necessarily need a 4 year degree to make hay. There is a severe shortage of trade workers out there and its only going to get worse.
4)Try actually working while you are in college. Too many kids these days don't work a single day in their entire 4 year run at a university including over the summer and are then confused by having a huge student loan with almost no money to start paying for it.

Too much logic in one post. Also, don't spend your loan money on drugs, booze, vacation, gambling, etc.

It's also puzzling that the one's that are fighting tooth and nail for school loans to be forgiven put no blame on the actual universities charging the outrageous tuitions.
What do they think is going going happen to tuition when the government starts forgiving loans?

Not just the tuitions, but they think they shouldn't have to pay back their loan if shiit doesn't work out for them after they graduate.

But education or your knowledge/skills aren't exactly a tangible asset. At least with a house or car or you can sell it and recoup a significant amount of the cost that way (and LOL at the plebs attacking me for that, as if it's either a perfect solution or nothing).

Revoking the degree is indeed pointless. And revoking the degree is only ethical or warranted if someone offends in a way that was relevant to actually earning that degree (like severe academic misconduct). And even then, that still doesn't solve anything because revoking a degree can often turn litigious and ugly and no one wins.

All you've done there is make someone even less employable.
How about no.

How about you take out a loan, then you pay it TF back - regardless of whether that degree in African Dance Theory lands you a mid-six figure job or not. Take it up with your institute of higher education, and not the ones who foot the bill for it.

Google literally tells you the type of jobs you can expect to get, with the degree you're majoring in. It will also tell you what those jobs pay.

Google will also tell you the most worthless degrees one can get.

Majoring in history for example, unless you plan on teaching it, what do you think it'll do for you? It's a better hobby, more than anything. Not to mention there's teachers/professors who have no idea what they're talking about.

I got into a debate with one, where he said if Hitler got the bomb, he would conquered the entire world.......I disagreed with him, and of course I was wrong.......

I don't disagree with this take, it makes sense.

That being said, a system reset in the way we approach post secondary education makes sense. loan forgiveness really doesn't, not as an EO, anyway.

All that being said, blue collar dudes in Idaho aren't paying 10k debt back for student loan holders. That's a top 1-10% of tax payers.

Nobodywould be paying it back, as it wouldn't come from tax revenue. The US is running a deficit, so any "loan forgiveness" would mean increased borrowing, which affectseverybody.

But when the federal government magically "forgives" student loans for no reason other than the President wanted to buy some votes, thetaxpayers and the federal debtpay for it. So there's no incentive for any sort of sanity in approving loans, such as selection of degree, selection of least-expensive school, requiring work & income by the student, etc. Just a spending free-for-all, then cry and demand Government (taxpayers) foot the bill.
Since you cocksuckers believe that most college degrees are useless, wouldn't the banks be loaning these inept students be a risk they take that fails and the bank absorbs the cost of that bad decision then, groomer?

There was a time when AP classes counted as college credit. But AP classes were unfair to certain minorities, so leftists scrapped it.....

8% of all college loans are private. And they're more common among grad students than undergrad. A lot of undergrads are in college simply as a waiting period until they've simply matured and experienced more life before heading into a professional workforce. That's fine and all, but there's no reason we should be on the hook for their loans. Plenty of people getting humanities degrees would be just as well off joining the peace corps or getting an internship straight out of high school. There should be more room for those.
