Mirin' nostalgia and agree on the 90s being the last great decade in the US, although LMAO at grunge being the epitome of rock. That's pure childhood/teenage years bias.

I find it funny that gen z is so nostalgic for the 90's but they are doing it completely wrong. No one in the 90s acted the way these fruit cakes act now. How do i know... I was fuking there. We bullied people, called them names, listened to limp and korn, and didn't give a fuk about stealing some losers pogs. 90s teenagers were the last normal group IMO. We went outside, skateboarded in our jncos, smoked weed, kicked the hacky sack around. The rest have been a bunch of baby soft handed fairies.

Yeah. A critical point is that the 90s were the last decade when kids could do this type of stuff because the PC-police hadn't come along and ruined everything and neutered everyone. Even before 9/11, I think Columbine went a long way toward killing that vibe.

The main issue with the 00s was the dark cloud of 9/11 and also the reality TV boom. There were some good movies that retained the same essence as the 90s as long as they avoided those elements.

E.g. Along Came Polly and Wedding Crashers came out 8-9 years after The Cable Guy, but watching them now they could have been made in the 90s.

This. I'm almost emotional to how life was like in the 90s. Of course that was before I had my precious daughter but even then life didn't go to clown world in the early 2000s, either, as I had her before social media and smartphones. She talks about how we played Barbies and board games when she was little but now kids are just on iPads all day and their parents are glued to their phones. It's so sad because you develop creativity and interpersonal skills playing with toys.

But yeah the 90s had that mix of what they called the "information superhighway" but we weren't locked into it as it was so slow and there wasn't much content online. There still was a lot of time to socialize and do outdoor activities. We just had flip phones for actual talking.

The music was the GOAT. A radio station returned in my area which plays mostly 90s alternative music and what they play is better than my playlist so many times I only go to my music when they have a commercial.
