Looks like in comparison the Dutch are mogging you guys, fuark.

But looking at an overall medal table is dumb as fuark anyway because half of everything in the olympics is a joke and then there's some disciplines where one dude can win 5+ medals during one year for doing the same thing but in a slightly different way. For most of the big sports getting an olympic medal isn't even the holy grail.

This is retarded. If you add up all those countries and their medal counts, their total populations may be similar but the European olympic team would be 6 times the size.

You don't get to just send as many athletes as you want. You send a team. And really good people get left off of it. Each of those countries sent an entire team to achieve that medal count.

If Europe as a whole had to band together and just send one team like the US does, that medal count would drop. If the US got to send 6 times as many athletes as it does, that medal count would increase.

australia is probably the best per capita at sport. With only 25 million people, in top 10 for most Olympic medals. Won numerous rugby and cricket world cups, rugby league world cup. The best rugby league competition in the world with the NRL and probably the most skilled comp out of any code of rugby, a few NBA and NFL players to boot in a country where its non existent. Not bad for a country just a bit smaller than texas in terms of population
