I'm just fed up with seeing mostly the same damn type of people take, take, take at the expense of the taxpayers when I've never gotten government money aside from the stimulus checks most people got during covid. Meanwhile we got people getting like 50% - 100% of their lifestyle funded by the government. People like that can get bent.
Vouchers do distort things.

I wonder if a branch of government like National Guard (new branch not exactly the National Guard) could give everyone a piece of whatever handouts come if they want, with healthcare and infrastructure jobs if they want.

I see this as a small expense to deal with the horizon that probably is worth it. The US wastes so much money, just having homes for everyone is not the most insane project for the long term.

Negative income tax, etc. also make sense. I don't know enough to solve the whole system. I actually prefer a Trump style rocket fuel approach to the economy and some basic thing to deal with everyone who misses the rocket ride.

100% feel this way.

Getting up at 5-6am, out the door 6-7am so I can drive at my own expense with my own car over an hour to work. I'm there usually until after 6pm, drive home, not home until past 7, sometimes 9pm, to do it again.

I get my paycheck, the difference in gross vs. take home is a sham. Healthcare, deductible so high that it's basically just bankrupcy insurance in case something big happens I don't get wiped completely out. Other deductions, i keep it to a minimum. Meanwhile poors just go to the doctor for almost free. With that take home i have to pay for everything, a lot of it goes back towards work. meanwhile poors get everything for free because they refuse to take responsibility for themselves and I'm told i should feel empathy for them. fuk that.

I 100% feel your pain Jason and I think you should have access to free healthcare instead. Fukkers paying HBB to chit on them, Hunter Biden, etc etc etc do you really resent the poors having healthcare here?

How to pay for all this healthcare? How do they pay for anything? They don't - they are already inventing bulk monies every year and we pay through inflation. But we're paying anyway arent we? Of all the things we could pay for, of all the things we already pay for. Preventing death, pain and suffering in actual people. That's too much?

IDK why so many people seem to believe that food stamps are a generous benefit that make it worth it to remain in poverty.

Cliffs:

- food stamps are based on something called the Thrifty Food Plan
- they assume that you can spend 30% of you income for food
- your benefit is based on total income - allowed expenses [completely unrealistic] - X .30 = your food budget
- they pay you the difference between the Thrifty Food Plan and your food budget *per their calculation*, not based on your real expenses

^^^
Would you choose to stay in poverty for an average benefit of $169 per month only good for purchasing food?

The need for a sense of purpose is a real thing IMO. Though not everyone needs paid employment to have a sense of purpose in life.

Cash welfare is almost totally extinct since the Clinton administration. Social Security Disability is a different program which benefits the disabled.
I've known a lot of single people who literally laughed while bragging to me how they abused food stamps benefits and how easy it apparently was for them to do so.

So prosecute abuse then. Except it looks like they don't do that.

IDK if someone did the math and decided it wasn't worth doing or if they just don't really care TBH.

I know that there has been drug testing done and the cost of testing everyone far exceeded any savings for the very small number of people they found were using. IIRC they found a smaller percentage of drug users than the broader population which makes sense to me. I believe the largest recipient groups are children, disabled, and elderly.

I could see myself supporting it if we had an actual nation instead of a dystopian globohomo hellscape.

I’m one or two elections away from becoming Amish or moving out of the country.

I used to work in a seafood store when I was in school and saw plenty of people come in, sift through a wad of cash to find their EBT card, then use it to buy a couple hundred dollars worth of crabs or lobster. Then they’d flip out when you told them they had to pay an extra $5 in cash since food stamps don’t generally cover hot food.

I think the bigger scam is disability though. I’ve met entire families who were all collecting disability and didn’t seem to have anything wrong at all.

Price if milk and bread will just rise even more.

The Ramen eaters are expected to always eat Ramen.

You have to jump classes, you can't raise an entire class. Economics won't allow it. The elites won't allow it.

Give each household $10M cash every month, it doesn't matter, milk will raise to $25K a gallon.

The idea is usually paired with an increased tax, usually income tax, to make it non inflationary so at a certain income you're breaking even and above that you are effectively paying for the scheme. In that format it's just welfare with a somewhat lame psychological trick where moggers might not feel like they are missing out and povos might not feel the shame of collecting welfare

Let's use rigid pure economic theory and keep printing 2x the GDP to give Zelensky enough to house the entire country every 6 months

People who produce, pay taxes should come first. i know the well connected are a problem, how else do politicians get so rich on not that much salary. Maybe if the government gave the benefits to those who work and produce, it would encourage people to get off their ass.

of course they have lots of cash. All their expenses are paid with benefits. Disability is one where those who really are legit have a horrible time while those who aren't get it easy.

Personally i have been treated exceptionally. One time during the recession I applied for unemployment and the lady at the desk wanted to argue with me that I wouldn't be elligible because I should be working. I went to the ER because i was legit sick and the doctor came out and first thing he said with the look of disgust on his face 'look, i'm not going to write you a note so you can get out of work. Go back to work and you'll start feeling better". legit had Lyme disease diagnosed later by a doctor that would actually see me. i only lost 50lbs in 2 months and could barely walk. I was told it's because I looked like a working man, srs. Meanwhile they just give to degens without asking.

No it always boils down to only females would get the UBI and men would have to pay for it through higher taxes.

Only if the people that take UBI/welfare are sterilized and cannot reproduce.
