Indeed, hence my perspective as a TES fan.

It's a joke when it's the only remotely substantial TES content that has been released under the most technical circumstances is for a bloody muhmorpagah with a combat system more lobotomized than Skyrim and is naturally stripped of the saving grace Hail Mary of the series that is modding.

While I don't bother with ESO, I would at least imagine that they've already done a ton of heavy lifting when it comes to designing different regions of Tamriel, so it's extra insulting that Bethesda couldn't even be arsed to use that work to do...anything?

Then there are unofficial modding projects like Skyblivion and Skywind, recreating Cyrodiil and Morrowind respectively in the Skyrim engine, where they have to work their asses off while walking on eggshells to not cross any legal issues when Bethesda could hire and support an official, actually organized project - similar to howForgotten Empirestook up the reigns to support Age of Empires under Microsoft. That went from a single new expansion, to another, to eventually remastering the original AoE trilogy, and particularlyongoingsupport for Age of Kings. Considering how Age of Kings DE hasdouble the average playersthanAoE4, I'd say they've been very successful keeping such an old game alive. And now Bethesda is also under Microsoft, who I'm sure would appreciate some more exclusive output capitalizing on the IP they're now sitting on.

I can't/don't want to be able to speak for your average miscer, but I'd imagine people would be interested in talking about movies, shows, ect. that isn't whatever the above even is; there were some really good discussions back when Game of Thrones wasn't rubbish for example, but nowadays good luck getting front page attention against misc ADHD.

To be fair, this is just a video game (and tech) forum with only a handful of regulars and where almost every thread eventually devolves into petty bickering.

Again, I won't speak for anyone else, but I typically just turn around pulling a Grandpa Simpson and don't even bother posting in most threads here once they're turned into a lover's quarrel.

The last Bethesda game I preordered was Fallout 4 and it felt like a shell of a game compared to FO3 / FONV.

Then F76 came out, I played the beta, it was a miserable time, never bought it, and glad I didn't. TESO was good for what it was (there's better MMOs though).

The company has been rubbing me the wrong way in general tbh. They'll re-release Skyrim 10 different times, and take 15 years to continue the TES franchise. Doom was great, I watched Doom Eternal online and that was great too. But their multiplayer is insufficient and there's not really much replayability IMO.

Look, what I saw from the Starfield gameplay videos and overviews was actually impressive. The scope is huge, I like how wildly different the story and interactions go based on your background and proficiencies. But the combat seemed both clunky and way too easy (hope the combat can be more interesting on higher difficulty settings). I have a feeling this will be a high B or low A tier game. I'll keep watch, but no preorder here.

Even just more barriers to entry/privileges so they can't just hop into the misc and start making threads so easily. At the very least have a post limit that forces them to out themselves as spamming morons and get banned before the even have the chance.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this one. Based on current info this is what I hoped no mans sky was going to be. Luckily its on gamepass so I don't have to spend money on a disappointment.

Game likely would have been out a year ago if MS didn’t buy them. And I think the game would be in wayyyy worse shape than however it ends up being in a couple weeks

MS has unlimited funds and knows this game has to be a hit. They delayed a year to make it as good as possible.

I expect a very polished game.

After the garbage that ESO and FO76 were Bethesda are pressured by both their fan base and shareholders to produce something good so i doubt Starfield will suck. It's the kind of studio that will make great games if they're pressured enough and will go back to producing mediocre content once success is achieved.

It might have bugs on release so i wouldn't pre-order it and wait a few weeks until things actually get patched.

Overall I'm optimistic, they have shown a lot of content which is a good sign and released a long video detailing the mechanics of the game. Usually if it was gonna be another unfinished game like cyberpunk or no mans sky they'd be extremely vague about the content shown and limit it to a few sequences and a lot of buzzwords until release day. That tells me a lot of the core game is finished and they're working on the last details.

With that said, it's Bethesda, they hired a lot of purple haired woketards with zero experience which led to their past titles being absolute garbage but also brought experienced devs from Fallout 4 and before to work on the game. Who knows how buggy the game will be at release.
