Cops don't protect you and they don't serve you. They entirely serve their own interest and do as they are told. I had a small period of time when I was "back the blue" attitude for cops until I saw that they fined a small business in 2020 because a lady complained the workers had masks under their nose.

Then I noticed crime in our area spiked insanely and the majority of the cops presence in the town was purely for ticketing drivers in speed traps and sitting around after an accident.

One of the great misconceptions people have is that cops are there to protect you. They are there to give you paper work and berate you if you didn't protect yourself correctly. Oh and don't forget the money.

When cop sighs, you have to listen carefully, there is "schmuck" somewhere in it.

Cops cannot selectively apply the law. If cop sees something, he has obligation to do something. Besides, like someone mentioned above, most people respect the law by bagging the open container. So, bag would be like being a nice person, respectful to people around them. The girl in question was educated on how to be nice. All fair IMO.

We do hsve discretion though, but one minute people are bitching that we're doing too much, the next, we're not doing our jobs......

normal, law abiding people are generally neutral with cops from my experience.

people that tip too far on one side of "back the blue" or "ACAB" are generally unstable, with the "back the blue" people being a bit naive/dumb and the "ACAB" people being kind of losers who have done time in jail/prison and generally dislike all authority figures due to having a chitty relationship with their parents.

The most anti cop people I know are the tradies I’ve worked with who subtle brag about how much time they’ve done in prison for beating their wife into a bloody coma or nearly killing a family of four by maiming them when DWI

We don't have quotas. But truth be told, street stops and traffic stops have led to bigger things.

Ok I’m guilty of no wearing a seat belt. Fine. I’ll accept the ticket for it. But you can’t pull me over for it.

Police are the enforcement arm of a corrupt government (which is predominantly jewish and democrat run in manhattan btw).

That’s the point. You can’t pull me over just for a seatbelt if I didn’t do anything immediately dangerous, which is what needs to be enforced, not for not wearing a seatbelt.

Yup. Local CVS has locks on ice cream due to mass thievery. Yet I haven't seen a single arrest for that.

But ticketing upper class folks having a drink near a park - an excellent use of LEO capacity in NYC right? Clearly a push from AOC types.
