Some people may just lift weights as a casual form of exercise (more akin to a chore) to maintain joint and muscle health. I can't say those getting all autistic and serious about are inherently better people.

If you're not progressing, unfocused, hogging up the equipment, and on your phone, than why are you even there?

they paid for a membership and are making an effort to do something that's boring like lifting. Perhaps they have other exercise things they are more enthused about.

will say there's a bit of difference when someone lifts to gain an advantage in a sport they play...the sport is fun and lifting gives them a competitive advantage. bet there's a ton of ex pro athletes that lifted hard while playing and now it's just a casual thing to them to maintain overall health.

Except they're not really making an effort. You're wasting time, and other people's time. If you're just sitting on a piece of equipment for five minutes, on your phone, then go home, or go sign up at PF.......

Not sure what you mean. You should snort half a tub of pre workout and go at peak time when gym is full of HBBs

Nothing boring about it

Men without a war and true purpose seem to have created some sort of fictitious battle with repetitive picking up of metal plates to prove their manhood (and as mentioned obtain love). Dedication, determination and discipline, brother!!!! Sounds like something Hulk Higan would say along with take your vitamins. Nothing written in the stars that there's anything good about repetitive picking up of metal plates. If you do it enough to where you can pick up more it simply means you can pick up more. It doesn't make you a warrior, superman, a better person or anything else.

Men from my grandfather's generation would laugh at the overt vanity of modern men packing into gyms and checking themselves out in mirrors.

If you want to tax your body go find a sport to play or a physical job where your movement has purpose of accomplishing some object.

Its boring because you're doing it wrong. Once you really learn how to train its enjoyable/fun/addicting. For me training like a BBer is where its at. Nothing better then hitting the gym. Getting a light warmup in/blood flowing. Then just hammering a single muscle group for 30-40 minutes straight. Getting a massive juicy pump. Looking solid, thicc, tight, Etc.

For me its two-fold. I go to the beach twice per year. Go to the pool often. And spend a lot of time on my boat. So being able to pop my shirt off all the time and look jacked & juicy just feels so freaking good. Even if I'm completely alone I love looking jacked and having a pump.

It also feels good to know I'm always one of the best looking people with one of the (if not the) best looking bodies in the crowd. It feels fukking good to mog man. To have visible abs. Veins on your biceps. Have your arms stretch the sleeves of pretty much any shirt you wear. Etc.

If you walk into a gym and you aren't one of the most jacked guys in there. If not the most jacked guys in there. I can see how it might feel intimidating or boring. Also if you are completely natty unless you just have godlike genetics and look better/hold more muscle then all other males yeah. You're just spinning your wheels.

I'm 36 but still making improvements/fine tuning my body. Feels fukking good to know 40 is just 4 years away. But I'll only look/feel better at 40 then I do now. Feels fukking good to know I can have half a dozen hot women in bikini's on my boat and pop off my shirt and look desirable AF compared to most of the fat/old dudes that have boats.

A healthy fit society is a strong society. 80% of those who died with Covid were obese and had pre-existing conditions. Something as simple as that should be a wake up call, instead people just get a jab, or get on some meds.....

Jacked, juicy, taking muh shirt off, looking a certain way compared to others. Cool story bro.

You're seeking love, attention and validation via an autistic dedication to picking up metal plates.

A person with a healthy mind that just does activities they enjoy to stay fit can feel every bit as good as you do.

Healthy and fit has nothing to do with autistic dedication to mind numbingly boring pursuits like regimented picking up of metal plates. People of my grandfather's generation stayed plenty fit as did he.

It's a lifestyle. Not for everyone. I want to be as big and strong as possible and my girlfriend is cool with that and supports that. I don't let it get in the way of the relationship, if we make evening plans I'll workout in the morning. It only requires about 5-6 hours a week to progress my goals. Wouldnt call that obsessive but definitely a meathead. If it's not for you bro, don't do it. I think playing video games and watching movies is a complete waste of time and don't understand why people spend 10+ hours a week doing that. But don't judge or rip on them for having different lifestyles....

Think I'm capable of hitting 800 deadlift if I put the time into doing it. How many men can say they hit 700-800 pounds conventional stiff bar? Not many.... got 670x3 and going to try for 700 in a couple weeks. Think I can get it. It's satisfying to set and work towards short and long term goals. That's the fun part.

Yup exactly. Imagine coming to a bodybuilding forum and trying to make fun of bodybuilding and powerlifting. My body attracted my girlfriend and she fell in love. She's quite the catch too. Going to be moving into her multi million dollar Miami beach condo in November hopefully. Wouldn't be able to pick up women like that by having a boring movie hobby. She's hot too

already mentioned earlier that people do it to get love, attention and validation...not really because it's fun. and we can circle back to my other thread about "90% of what men do is to get/keep pucci"

But if you don't the actual training then you'll give up before you get to the point of receiving validation.
