Ways that being “frugal” (cheap) ends up costing more money?

I’ve always found that so-called “frugal” people end up shooting themselves in the foot financially.

I’m not talking about small things like wasting benzine driving around looking for the lowest price per litre. I mean big ticket stuff:

-taking the lowest bid. By all means get multiple quotes for big jobs, but remember you get what you pay for. I always lol when people took the lowest quote and get a dog chit job that they then have to pay an actually good contractor to fix.

-waiting for the housing market to drop before buying in lmao. Always the same financial geniuses who have been renting for decades. There’s no reaching them. Always talking about investing the difference. Hint: they did not, in fact, invest the difference.

-just buying cheap stuff in general. Like used cars and cheap electronics. You just end up paying more in maintenance and replacement costs. Quality stuff just lasts longer.

-moving to a “low cost of living area” lmao. It’s cheap because no one wants to live there. Congratulations, you not only live in a chithole but you’ve cucked yourself out of many better paid job opportunities.

No, I buy cheap phones, spend no more than $300, they always last me 5+ years. Certain electronics and clothing don't matter what quality brand you have.

I think being frugal with food will cost you your health though, don't **** with sugary and greasy foods.

If you live in even a small city, there should be 10+ food establishments within a 5 minute drive. Well worth not paying the $!5 delivery fee unless you're drunk or stoned or something.

Have always hated the cheap/frugal mindset. Always LOL when their cheapness results in them having to spend more in the long run. What kills me is the folks who opt for the cheapest product/service around and then complain when it is lower quality. If you want quality then you have to pay a quality price for it. Common sense

Yes. Every low IQ person I know finances a used car with 90k miles and then spends thousands on repairs. As a plus, it usually dies completely before the loan is paid off.

-using non-genuine/budget parts on your car.Not only do they always phuck up, and either cause the car to break down or, if it’s like a water pump, oil pump or gasket, it can total the engine.

Excessive online comparisons. People will spent 3-4 hours shopping around different sites to save $20 on something.

Time is money and $5 per hour is an appalling use of time.

Cheap apartments. I saw this a lot when I first moved to the city. People would save $300 per month by living somewhere cheaper, but then spend an extra $600 per month going out more because they didn't like being in the apartment.

Professional services. A cheap lawyer or a cheap accountant will lose you more than they save you.

The only dangerous thing about an exercise is the person doing it.

I know guys that buy cheap shoes 5 times a year lol i keep telling them to buy a few quality pairs and they will last a long time and they can be re-soled, bespoke suits actually save you money down the line...thing is, the cheap stuff isn't even as good looking as the quality stuff and they end up spending more in the long run.

My cousin wanted some work done on his Mercedes, I sent him to my guy and he decided to go with some cheapo place in town...lol, I chit you not, while he was showing me the work they did for super cheap, fluid started spraying out from a tube that came loose, I think it was anti-freeze and got him in the face, to say he was pissed would be an understatement.

Bespoke suits are a poor value. No one can tell the difference between a high quality <$1000 suit with alterations and bespoke which start at $3000.

Unless by bespoke you mean made to measure like indo chino which isn’t bespoke and most of those companies are hit and miss relying on “virtual” measurements

I don't know if they still do it, but you used to get tailors fly over from hong kong with samples and hole up in an airport hotel for 2 weeks. People would go to the hotel, get measured, pick the material etc and the suits would get shipped to them a couple of weeks later.

The best value for money is probably the suits made from scans. You go in to a booth, it scans you and the suits are made from those measurements. It's generally only a couple of hundred dollars more than off the rack.
