Instead of trying to win Internet arguments, maybe try adding 50 lbs to your bench

The people with the mindset of OP tend to workout at three specific gyms......

Planet Fitness, Crunch Fitness or Blast.

Crunch is awesome for the price, but goddamn does that place get packed. Couldn't imagine what it's like at peak hours.

No one is trying to win anything. You could just as easily stop going back and forth.

I hit a lifetime bench PR at 30 years old and at the lowest bodyweight I've been since like 19.

But maybe I'll be singing a different tune in a couple years.

I've been a member there for I think around 3 years now? Yes, it's pretty solid for the price but...fuk I've really grown to hate that place (due to how crowded it gets and the type of people - to make matters even worse it seems like there's been an uptick in zoomers). I have access to another gym though, for free even, but it's further away.

lifting heavier and heavier is the most important aspect of lifting weights, whether it's for strength or aesthetics. It's the foundation of progressive overload and should be part of literally every single weight training program.

If you're lifting the same weight as you were years ago, and haven't cut any significant amount of weight, you have by definition did not make any progress.

Ash's flagrance aside, to think that increasing weights is some ancillary indicator of progression when lifting weights is kinda wild. It's the far and away the most important indicator of progression.

I go to a smaller meathead gym, so even at peak hours it's nothing like I've seen there.

It's a fuking zoo.

You can't progress indefinitely, and there's a point where that needs to be accepted/taken into consideration. There's also other fitness related goals like - leanness, good cardio, longevity, etc. that aren't going to be conducive to ever increasing numbers.

Right, well this is a bodybuilding forum and we're in a thread talking about how increasing your lifting numbers is useless. Cardio and longevity aren't really the point.

But even if it were, this thread would be analogous to saying that decreasing your mile time or increasing your cardio time/distance is pointless after 30. Which of course, is daft.

Every workout should be better than the previous one, otherwise what's the point??? Hell even with cardio, you should aspire to either be faster than before, or add another mile.

He'd crush your twink frame with absolute ease. He looks fine. You can tell he lifts and he's strong as an ox.
