That is true. But the great thing is, you grind it out for a few years and then you become the admin. My workload went from like 60-70 hour weeks to like 25 hour weeks. And I have a team of guys to do things for me. It's cushy as fuk.

That's not a cert you just jump into though. You want a TRACK and you want your certs to compliment each other..

I started with A+ and Network+. Both are excellent as a foundation and both can be used as electives depending on the track you choose.

There is s big demand for cyber security these days as well.

Well I'll say again they are just paper but even still if you dont know anyone in the field who can out in a good worf and open a door.for you and if you don't knoe anything at all about computers. I'd say yes cause you need something on your resume to get peoples attention if you had the work experience and knowledge. I'd say no you dont need them and to just sell yourself at the interview with your expereince

Wat? What are the requirements for these type of jobs? I have 15 years experience, a+ Cert and wanting to get some Cysco as well. Did POS system setups for restaurants and their network. I started bartending and avg about 40-50h but I’m burnt out.

Haha I actually don’t use the one I sold. Aloha is the one I use, I sold a lesser known brand. They are all literal POS’s when you get down to it.

Interviews sure. The actual positions, well they're going back to in office. The DC metro has the lowest amount of workers who have been made to come back to the office in the country, but the number is going up day by day.

So someone in Tennessee is fukked for the most part unless willing to relocate, yeah? I just couldn’t imagine selling my house and land and having to go over the entire process again for a job that I would have no idea the longevity on.

Basically. You could always rent the house and have a management company take care of maintenance and tenants and collecting rent.

I know some guys in the public sector who have worked in IT at the help desk for 6-7 years, and then moved into sys admin work while in public sector. Fast forward a few more years (a little over a decade of working at public sector at this point) and they now make ~$35-37/hr. It took them forever to get to that point, so it's a little abysmal compared to what they could've done private sector... but they get some phat public sector related benefits (pension) to compensate.

Working in Cyber in the private industry, I started at $29/hr. 6 years later my base pay for cyber in private industry is $52/hr, but I clear over $160k gross thanks to bonuses/overtime/stockoptions/differentials.

I started 8 years ago at $12/h, my base pay right now is $151k. Also private sector, but MSP.
