Look at how vertical the persons back is at the start position when they start the deadlift. And how far away their hips are from the bar, on the horizontal plane. Some people have freak body proportions that allow them to deadlift where they back is already straight up and hips right up near the bar, sumo or conventional. The deadlift to them is like a rack pull compared to a normie

And when someone does sumo, bendy bar, figure 8 straps with bar in fingertips, bumper plates to bend the bar even more, it’s just exaggerating their body type even more
I don't know many people doing 1klb rack pulls, but your points have merit. It's STILL top tier, however.

If you actually deadlift and have tried both stances, you know you’re not gonna get much out of sumo
I've tried both in the past when I was more focused on trying to deadlift

I definitely got a lot more out of sumo my first time trying it, I set a 585 PR when my previous PR was like 540 or something at the time lol

Depending on your leverages it can either be a massive benefit or negligible

They definitely help. Especially when you do what Savior is suggesting here

There’s a big handful of people deadlifting 1000 now

That Tyson Riddeour guy is probably going to have the all time deadlift record by a long shot cause he’s so anatomically suited for it. He can rep 1000 in the gym on deads but can only bench 300
Best lifts:
Bench press: 315x5
Squat: 465x1
Strict press: 205x5
Deadlift: 405x13 (conv tap'n'go with straps)

I saw a dude put collars about halfway down the sleeves on an empty barbell, put the plates on, then put a collar on. (Putting the plates all the way at the ends). To simulate a bendy bar without having one

Yeah it's insane what people are doing now with different techniques, equipment, specialty bars etc. They're moving some crazy weight

I wonder what the guy repping 1000 on the deadlift can push with a full range of motion dumbbell incline press with a controlled negative though

It’s also his anatomy, crazy long limbs and some kind of a spine condition that has his upper back curled up, making his torso artificially short. When he deadlifts, his back is already nearly locked out he just has to extend his legs and move his hips in an inch or two. Meanwhile some people have to bend over so much their back is parallel with the floor. The deadlift is just a vastly different exercise to different people and it’s a really poor test of strength. But powerlifting kind of evens it out cause someone advantages to one lift usually is disadvantages in the others (like how this Tyson guy can only bench 300)

But I genuinely hope he winds up with like a 1300 lb deadlift done in an official comp. Cause then it will be undeniable that the deadlift is kind of a BS exercise

I think a lot of short guys can typically get away with good leverages in all of them. If they deadlift sumo, squat with a wide stance, practice an extreme bench press arch with a wide grip, they can reduce the difficulty and ROM pretty well on everything. The entire name of the game is to put yourself in the most leveraged position

That's why I lol when guys turn to powerlifting when their true goal is building muscle

Damn some crazy power on those concentrics. Another sport that bloated whites were at the top of has fallen to the bbc, oh well
Lifts:
Squat: 460x1
Bench: 400x1
Deadlift: 575x1
OHP: 250x2
Weight: 180 lbs.

Don't have heroes; look up to no one. Because as long as someone's leading the way, the best you'll ever be is second.
